-Petition for banning of anime!?-

Post by Yunacat » Thu Feb 02, 2006 2:34 pm

WTF! ( Thanks to chosef for posting this in another thread..or i wouldn't have noticed... )

Some people really are dumb..

http://www.petitiononline.com/cutiepie/petition.html

Read that petition there. It's of a person asking for Bush to ban the import of all types of anime from Japan.

What i have to say... wrote:I have a defense on that. This person clearly doesn't see the good side of anything at all. This person doesn't care that "anime" has now become a major market in the US and rest of the world as well. Companies make LOTS of money off of translating and selling this form of "entertainment" to us. It's up to the parents to make sure it's safe for kids to watch, not the companies and not the creators. This person doesn't know that importing this source of entertainment helps our economy, and that it gives fans what they want. Though this may not be always true, it's almost always true.

This is so common..using innocent kids to further a point.. A point that's always mentioned, but doesn't need to be worried about. There are ratings (ex Y7, Y10, T13, T+16, T+17, and A18) that are there to let everyone know what age it's suitible for, and the adults decide upon that.

Also note, there are forms of anime that are made for really little kids. Is that depriving us from our morals? Is showing kids how to read, talk properly, and understand the things around us moral deprivity?

The Undersigned wrote:As a resonsible Christian, I demand to see this garbage removed from our nation.
Hmm..so if you are Christian, does that mean that something like anime is depriving you of your moral rights as well? It hasn't done anything. It's your fault for watching it.. You don't have to watch it if you don't want to, and you shouldn't force others, who love it, to not be able to watch it.

What does Christianity have to do with it anyway? Isn't there also a "freedom of religious choice" in America as well? I damn well am not Christian, and you just gave me a good reason not to be. You make a bad name of Christian people everywhere. (makes me feel sorry for them all..since one ruins it for all..).

You're saying that everyone is Christian and that Christians shouldn't watch anime because, if they do, they'll lose their moral values? Like i said, i'm not Christian, and i know that, though a few may be, not everyone is, so not everyone should be excluded from something they like.

What next? Banning the creation and import of video game consoles and video games because it teaches today's youth about fighting, weapon handling, murder, loss, and death!? Or maybe all the movies that just came out, along with the ones that have been out for a while? Doesn't that teach them the same things? Doesn't that destroy their "moral" standing? Or how bout the internet? How about we just get rid of that too? You can access the many flash games, videos, art, all that stuff, just by the single click of a mouse and a few letters on they keyboard! Or how about music, huh? How about we ban the creation of music, and put every band/singer in jail that uses the word "hate" or a "christian curse" such as "GOD" or "JESUS", huh? And music videos! How bout those too? We could put any band/singer in jail for "going against the war", such as the music video "Wake Me Up When September Ends" by Greenday, or "Ghost of You" by My Chemical Romance? Then we could also ban any toy that resembles a gun or weapon from even going near stores.

With so many choices, some that may even have a worse influence, then why pick anime to ban?

Ya know..if you ban "just" anime, then we still get manga. And if you banned both anime and manga from Japan, hope you know we'd still have it..there's Chinese anime/manga, and Korean anime/manwah. There's also upcoming American manga, which may eventually spring into anime titles as well...

I respect what people have to say, but with something so hateful as this topic, it makes me mad. Though i may respect what you say, i don't like it, and i don't like you..

What's your take on this?

Now that I've really just randomly jumped around though, I wouldn't be surprised if not one of those 6000 signatures aren't just bashing it.

I agree fully with this petition. We Christians all hold the exact same values, which is why Southern Baptists don't drink or dance, while Catholics drink at every occasion.

And Yunacat is taking this way too seriously.

I demand a ban on bans.

And this thread.
