Is there a way to convert WMV to MPEG-2?

Post by RamonesFan2020204 » Mon Feb 06, 2006 10:00 pm

I need to know, because I'm thinking about entering one of my AMVs into a con in June, and they're only taking 'em in MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 (they prefer MPEG-2)

What editing program are you using? i dont know if WMM can compress into anything but wmv. I do know that vegas and other editing programs are able to covert. Other than that i know Virtual Dub Mod can.

WMM can export as DV-AVI. That can be recompressed as MPEG-2.

You export as DV-AVI from WMM. Then you import said DV-AVI in an MPEG-2 compressor. Export MPEG-2 from said compressor.

Fairly simple, I should think.

You're probably better off going through DV-AVI anyway. It's less lossy.

I had no idea WMM2 could do that. I thank you, Sir Kalium. 8-)

I cover MPEG-2 encoding for conventions here:

(still waiting for acceptance of that guide and the one other)

I need to visit your site more often then. Been thinking about MPEG-2 for a while.
