Captain's Shooting Company (Last Exile epic)

Post by FoxJones » Sun Feb 12, 2006 2:18 pm

To start this new year I made a serious AMV for a change. This one revolves around the musketeers from Last Exile with one of Ayreon's epic song.

Do note that even though this epic lasts for 8 minutes it has a solid plot to keep you interested during this story of seek for glory and harsh lesson about realities of a long campaign and endless battles.
(at least that's what it's supposed to be.. I hope I managed to make it enjoyable)

..and without further delay I present:
Captain's Shooting Company

Anime: Last Exile
Music: Ayreon

(But well edited.)

And a bit too boring. I didn't see much connection with the music and scene choises. :(
Eyecandy is not mindcandy. Real soul is hidden in the lyrics.

Haha, now that's an original Last Exile video. I liked the fact you showed most of the scenes other Last Exile amvs usually leave out. And the music was of course pretty cool as expected of Ayreon. As Venomi said the scene's weren't one on one with the lyrics but overall it fitted very well. A very good video, it's really an epic since it has a real chronological storyline (the idea with the dates was nice) you can follow.

To bad I had quite the same idea with another prog/power song, I guess I can toss that one now. But your's would be better anyway :).

Good stuff, Fox. I may or may not give a more in depth thought in a quick comment.

Yea.. I ran into some problems when trying to fit the scenes in. First verse goes pretty nicely with the lyrics but with the second one, in the end I didn't even try. I wanted the recreation-part in the AMV and it just didn't fit the lyrics. Since I'm not a big lyric-sync-person anyway I thought it would be ok to just go with the mood at that point. Song being 8 minutes long didn't help, combined with the slight lack of usable material that fit the concept I had. I have to say I'm happy about the end result, though ^^

Tono_Fyr: ANY QC would be more deep and meaningful than the one that I just got from Kitsuner ;) (It HAS to be from him)

Great vid, Foxxy, though I was a bit confused in the beginning. The dates were a nice touch, though.

As a side note, why'd have to take away my cookies? ;_;

I thought it was great. It was a really traditional narative which you dont see too often in AMVs. I thought it told a great story and the pacing was awesome.

I really got to know those guys by the end of the video.
