Didn't know that.

Didn't know that either. My bad.

Music is an art form used to convey the feeling of the preformer to his or her audience. For me music has to convey that emotion and not some false pretense of emotion that is biased on the thought of a few bucks...true music is bore threw an artists soul...I have trouble listening to music that doesnt convey to me the feeling of the preformer, most but not all rap has this effect on me...namely the rap about Hoes and gang banging and what not...

I listen to all music because I believe you cannot call yourself a true musician until you can learn to appreciate the emotion set forth by all forms of music...

Music has been such an important part of my life that I truly believe that without I would not be here (alive).

I must say that because of the situations I have found myself in and what I have seen during my short years on earth, it is easy for me to say that all types of music has a place. Most of us have found what we like. It is human nature to be wary or skeptical of anything that is not known to us. That includes trying to relate to something that we (as individuals) know nothing about.

There has been a lot of conversation about rap/hiphop music, both supporters and non. Personally, I listen to everything, but has been rap/hiphop that has been mostly the soundtrack to my life.

I won't go into to much detail here, but I was in (and in some cases still am) a world that most rap/hiphop artists talk about. Is there a lot of talk about women, material, and violence (i.e. gun play)? Yes it is. Yet, unless you can really experience what it is like to live in that world, it will be stupid, repititious and all the other critical things that have been said about rap/hiphop.

Have any of you ever been in a life or death situation? What about a life or death situation that was out of your control? If not, consider yourself lucky. If so consider yourself blessed. Now imagine if you were faced with life or death situations 2 or 3 times a month that was not in your control.

I have been fortunate to be where I am and be as successful as I have been able to be. There are plenty of people who have not been and will not be as fortunate as I am.

That is why I love rap/hiphop like I do. I can relate to the stories, the good, the bad, the violent, the stupid, the intelligent. It is world that I have grown up in and can understand. Now, I am not saying that what is said is always right. I'm not saying that I would do things in the same way. But what I am saying is this..........I understand.

If you want to understand, not matter what genre of music, get past what you hear, get past what you think, just attempt to feel, but not from your view.....................but from theirs. :)

Warheart wrote:Haha, this is actually pretty easy. Music has to have mood, thus it's emphasizing the atmosphere and mood you yourself are in at the moment. Music for me has to deliver some sort of message or emotion and that's very diffcult to find nowadays thus I listen mostly to all different kinds of undergound artists. And moreover it has to be honest however you may think of acheiving this, not all music is just made to get money - sometimes you can hear the artists passion for the music (you don't know how ? what pity ... then you listen to pop right ?).

So for me it's no question of instrumental or not instrumental or if it's PsyTrance or Melodic Death Metal, it's a question of skills and emotions (no matter which type of emotion).
I agree with this somewhat. I think most good songs give you a good emotional feel but none the less they have to sound good and not just be jibberish heavy metal nor can they be too dramatic or slow. Personaly I just like going with the upbeat rock, i'd go with "Stop The Rock"
and Mungo Jerry "In the Summer Time". These songs just remind me of a good time and lots of fun emotions that I like having.

Ps. Guys try to stay on topic more the last few posts kind of look like spamming/spammish.
