When I said who did the videos, I only said their editor name, not their real name, or their e-mail or anthing like that. I'm only distributing it through the site, that's it. I made it so that you can't link to the vid on other websites like myspace, xanga, and such. However, that is still distributing it. And I know that I can't get them sued that easily, I was just throwing that in for shits and giggles.

If you go to the person's profile and scroll to the bottom, you can report someone for misconduct. If she gets enough complaints... Has she been asked to take them down yet?

I personally think it is a shame to steal an artists work.
The only thing I can think of would be a thread where artists could post where an AMV of them has been stolen and by who did it. At least that would help to spread the truth amongst those who care about it. I know this is not really much, but people like me would really appreciate to know wich work was done by wich artist.
Other than this the only thing that can be done is to write to the one who uploaded that AMV without permission and/or took credit for it. But I doubt a lot of those who go this far will care about your message.
This is the risk that comes with uploading your AMVs to the internet.

The AMV info is already listed here in a-m-v.org, together with who made the AMV and what program is used to make it, etc.Mirtual wrote:I personally think it is a shame to steal an artists work.

The "person" mocked me for emailing her and deleting my public posts. When I threatened her with getting her banned at both websites, those vids came down in a hurry. One of them is still there for some reason.
Making an amv, is rather like being the director of a Broadway show, where you have a million dancers and each of them only knows one step.

I went back to Saffire's holdout stolen vid - "Gotta Get Through This" (Yu-Gi-Oh). I posted yesterday simply, "This vid belongs to DragonKaiba" just in case she was too lazy to check where she'd stolen it from. My post was deleted again.

It's really a shame what other people will do to get attention, maybe she need lots of it.
Anyway, maybe we should put a tiny logo or something on the videos so that even if someone edits it, there will still be proof of the original author.
But that will ruin the video right? So I guess we should just watch out for persons who take credit from other's works.

Those kind of reactiosn piss me off. I'd respond saying "As this is a fan-made work, it's very difficult for me to prove copyright. However, I'm sure the legal teams for the companies that hold the copyrights to the origional components of this piece would love to have a word with you. I'll inform them."
