it seems that many forumgoers have misunderstandings about this question, as it's being interpreted in two ways:
(1) what people do you want to enjoy your amvs?
and
(2) in whose interests/motives are you creating your amvs? (i.e. who are you making amvs for?)
i've always taken the first interpretation of the question, and answered: both myself and others.
it seems many other members are taking the face-value interpretation of the question, (2), and i've usually ignored this interpretation because it's just much less frequent, if not rare for people to make amvs on commission by other people (yes i am aware of exceptions).

Who's talking about commissions? There are people, like the "retired" Voices of Ryan, who make videos solely to please other people and gain recognition as an "artist." But he does it of his own volition. Honestly, I'm interested how many other people do that.downwithpants wrote:it seems many other members are taking the face-value interpretation of the question, (2), and i've usually ignored this interpretation because it's just much less frequent, if not rare for people to make amvs on commission by other people (yes i am aware of exceptions).
Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

I have trouble believing that he'd be so irrepressibly enthusiastic about making AMVs if that was all there was to it.Flint the Dwarf wrote:Who's talking about commissions? When he first started talking with me over AOLIM, you could not get him to shut up about AMVs and the aesthetics thereof and stuff like that... to say nothing of what he was like when in original trailer mode.

1. I create AMV's to get rid of ideas spinning around in my head, which can be very irritating. This has got nothing to do with who is going to see how very bad I am at that stuff...
2. I'd like to say that I create AMVs for myself. Unfortunately this would be a lie. Of course I enjoy watching them (even though I'm not very skilled) but even more I enjoy watching others watching my AMVs as long as their faces do not radiate the wrong expressions. I need to catch the attention of others and the biggest reward is the question whether I could afford to burn my creation on a CD for them...
But... that's only human, isn't it? Isn't it?

Neither. I can't say I enjoy making AMVs, and I can't say I'm particularly looking for attention.
