Naruto got edited because Cartoon Network and Viz wanted it on Toonami which has a younger target audience. Personally, I think the Naruto dub is good, although it started a bit shaky. At least they are using terms like "chuunin", "chakra", "kunoichi", and "jutsu"; not just translating the terms. And the pronunciation of japanese names and words are pretty good compared to alot of other anime I've sampled the dubs of. The only thing that grates on me are the Naruto commercial break segments where "Naruto" was mis-pronounced and then corrected, then for some reason they went back to the old segments then went to the corrected ones again.
If you want uncut Naruto on Cartoon Network, that may be a while. But you can (possibly) get the DVDs uncut on July 4th as a box set of the 1st season (unconfirmed, but Viz has stated they have plans to release uncut DVDs as season sets beginning sometime in summer '06).
The Bleach announcement is pretty reassuring, but not a big surprise considering Viz is really focusing on pushing Shonen Jump titles and this would make a great replacement on Adult Swim for Inuyasha when it ends it's run. I wouldn't be surprised that Ocean Studios, the canadian company that dubbed Inuyasha gets the call for Bleach since they could use another steady project.
I love how everyone likes to mess with people by saying, "4Kids has licensed 'insert anime series here'!!!!11!!one!!11!!zomg!!1!1!.

I wouldn't call Yu Yu Hakusho's US treatment dub raped. Shafted schedule-wise, yes...but certainly not dub rapedYokou Seishirou wrote:This is like the first shonen jump next to dbz that didn't get "dubbed raped". I usually thought that a Shonen Jump title would always be dubbed and thrown to the kids, I'm glad that I was wrong.

and as for Ocean view or what ever canadian gets the anime of Bleach I just hope then it's just showpro, I don't know if I can handle Richard Cox being Ichigo or maybe Ichikaku maybe. But Honestly I prefer Seshomaru maybe play as Byaku. But only time will Tell here.

This is really a non-issue. It was talked to death on the Bleach LJ community a month or 2 ago. Animesuki still doesn't even refer to it as liscensed and they drop references to a series at the drop of a hat when liscensing announcement are really made. People have just finally realized that Viz has always owned the rights to Bleach.

TV Tokyo Corporation And Shueisha Inc. Appoints VIZ Media To Represent Broadcast, Home Video And Merchandising Rights In The Americas, Europe And Oceania For SHONEN JUMP’s BLEACH!
San Francisco, CA, March 15, 2006 – VIZ Media, LLC (VIZ Media), one of the entertainment industry's most innovative and comprehensive publishing, animation and licensing companies, announced today that it has secured from worldwide licensors, TV TOKYO Corporation and Shueisha Inc., the television, home video and merchandising rights to SHONEN JUMP’S BLEACH in the Americas, Europe and Oceania. The appointment of VIZ Media as Master Licensor was facilitated by TV TOKYO Medianet, the licensing arm of TV TOKYO.
VIZ Media plans to introduce a dynamic rollout strategy that will leverage the strong manga (graphic novels) and entertainment brands into a broad licensing and marketing program. BLEACH’s television broadcast partner and key licensing partners will be determined shortly.
“It is a great privilege to be bringing such an outstanding property to so many parts of the world,” said John Easum, executive vice president, VIZ Media. “BLEACH is one of the most powerful and successful new series coming out of Japan, and it has already established a very large fan base in the U.S., due to the enormously successful manga, published by VIZ Media under our SHONEN JUMP imprint. Working together with VIZ Media B.V. in Europe, we look forward to making Bleach a global success.”
BLEACH is the story of an average 15-year old, Ichigo Kurosaki, who never asked for the ability to see ghosts--he was born with the gift. When his family is attacked by a Hollow – a malevolent lost soul – Ichigo becomes a Soul Reaper, dedicating his life to protecting the innocent and helping the tortured spirits find peace.
BLEACH is author Tite Kubo’s second title and it has spawned 21 volumes to-date that have sold over 28 million copies in Japan. BLEACH has already been translated into more than seven languages and has achieved immense success in Japan not only as a manga and TV title, but also in the realm of licensed categories such as toys, trading card games and video games.

My fav quote is from animeondvd.com about all this:
Oh great, so the reason I have to wait 2-3 years after the episodes originally aired is so you can make more money on random BS that I'm not interested in and could easily just import from Japan. With Shonen Jump properties like this being worked as an all out blitz, releases will take longer to initially come to fruition in order to ensure as much promotional materials are ready as well as tentpoling for other products.
