Well I saw the DBZ they considered adult swim. It was pretty much a joke. First of all, it wasn't all that uncut, and it certainly wasn't the original dialogue, just more of Funimation dub. I'd just rather buy the DVDs when they come out.

dude...it sucks when they cut out all the good bits...i mean when they had it one those oh so many years ago on Cheez TV they cut out alot of the buu saga and stuff becuase it was so graphic. coz if u hadnt noticed they actually began to show more detail in the wounds and such.

Well, I understand their concern. They were trying to make it marketable to children, and there is a big market out there for action cartoons for children. But the Japanese have a WAY different standard for children's fair than Americans do (and it is not a bad things that Americans have a different standard.) So, yes they cut it down for that market.
(I mean, I'm a parent.. I don't want my kids watching DBZ uncut, either.)
Then funimation finally got the clue, that older fans didn't want their anime diluted, which prompted the release of the DVDs (they, at first, were only realeasing the cut up DVDs).
So, everyone wins, as I see it. Kid's get their action anime, and older fans can get the anime they want.
And, of course, Funimation makes a great big profit.

Well I saw all of GT on the international channel, in the original Japanese.
Cartoon Network started DBGT from the Bebe (Baby) Saga and left out the first season entirely. I didn't mind that so much, because the first season wasn't that great. I mean it wasn't bad. It was cute, but it wasn't really DBZ. Just Goku, Pan, and Trunks flying around the universe trying to find the blackstar dragonballs (puhlease).
Funimation knew the ratings would go completely flat if they had started GT from episode one, and apparently Cartoon Network didn't want season one for the same reason. People would have stopped watching before it got really good ala Bebe saga.
What annnoyed me was the deceitful and greedy marketing ploy Funimation came up with to palm off Season one. "DBGT The Lost Episodes."
Lost! They were never lost, they were never missing. They had already been entirely aired on TV, ala the International Channel. It was just a ploy to palm off and profit from a seaons of episodes that they were losing money on, because Cartoon Network didn't buy them.
I just wonder how many people were conned into putting down their hard earned money for "lost episodes." Shameless thy name is Funimation.

YEh I know what ya mean. they werent all that great but i dont mind the GT series itself but they changed so much fro the DBZ and yeh i know the Draongball is the original lols but im just saying they changed it so much from what people were used to...well me.
like the characters werent the same and the graphics. true it wasnt the same producers or creators or whatever but GAH! atleast try.
I thought Bebi was cool that was the first disk i got of the GT saga (friend bought it knowing i like Z) and like, as i said before i thought it was okay but it seemed that there was more Vegeta in Bebi than Vegeta had on his own in the series (that probably didnt even make sense)
Like the pride and the strength and stuff. Bebi showed that more when he took over Vegeta's body than Vegeta actually had himself.

I thought it was funny how affectionate Bebe Vegeta was with Bulma until they drove BeBe out of Vegeta. Then he got smacked her as he ran to his ship. Part of the side of Vegeta he would never show came outAUSSIE_BABE wrote:YEh I know what ya mean. they werent all that great but i dont mind the GT series itself but they changed so much fro the DBZ and yeh i know the Draongball is the original lols but im just saying they changed it so much from what people were used to...well me.

I think that also explains Bebe's intense hatred of Son Goku.

DBZ was the first anime i ever saw and i still love it. but gt just...blowed, i hate how they made cute lil pan into a whiney bitch and trunks into a total loser(like gohan became) not to mention poor vegeta. the only thing i liked about gt was the ending. the buu saga should've been the last session. it would have been nice if it vegeta blowing himself up wasn't in vain, but then we would've have found out he's scared of slimy things.(the episode where vegeta and goku are inside buu and see's those worms) i laughed like crazy when vegeta told goku he was gonna puke.

My favorite part of that episode is the look Vegeta has on his face when Goku goes right up and makes friends with the giant tape worms. That was a hilarious episode.Kaivy wrote:DBZ was the first anime i ever saw and i still love it. but gt just...blowed, i hate how they made cute lil pan into a whiney bitch and trunks into a total loser(like gohan became) not to mention poor vegeta. the only thing i liked about gt was the ending. the buu saga should've been the last session. it would have been nice if it vegeta blowing himself up wasn't in vain, but then we would've have found out he's scared of slimy things.(the episode where vegeta and goku are inside buu and see's those worms) i laughed like crazy when vegeta told goku he was gonna puke.
