Editing help.
honestly I dont know where this would go so Ill let whoever knows where it should go move it there.
Im having editing issues with, surprise, WMM. In the project everything seems fine but when I save the movie file theres a point in it where it suddenly skips twice. I keep checking and rechecking the clips in that part but theres no reason why it should be skipping like that.
anyone know of any reasons for this or any ways of solving it (aside from changing to premiere or another such program.

I like to call this problem "Windows Movie Maker".
Basically, when I used to use WMM it would create random glitches and skips that would piss me off to beyond control. I used the program so much that I was finally able to force these glitches away by changing small parts in the timeline where the glitches were located on the saved vid. The glitches would not show in the timeline btw.
I'm not so sure though. Some people that use WMM get absolutely no glitches at all. I think they have an extremely high ram or something.

Good, I would highly suggest this. I use Premiere the most of all my programs and sometimes get some small glitches but they are clearly visible in the timeline and usually easy to fix. Watch out for some of those "they are really easy to fix though".MovieMarc wrote:I get them all the time, most of the timing issues and random skips in all of my amvs are all because of WMM. Frankly, if I had a good enough attention span to actually teach my self how to use my copy of premiere (and a working keygen... >.>) I would actually learn so I could rid myself of WMM

Yeah, WMM does weird stuff. I've had other things happen besides the ones mentioned here (yet these ones I haven't experienced). I found myself stuck in a perpetual loop once while trying to clean up a vid for a con--I originally just wanted to redo a scene slightly, and clip a bit off the end. When I rendered the file after that, I noticed one shot had become pixellated. Import the old AMV into WMM and replace the clip, then another scene broke this way. After doing this about four times, I got fed up and just sent the original file.

lol! There should be a WMM topic talking about the hell people went through when they used to use it. Shoot, I should make one.Jayn_Newell wrote:Yeah, WMM does weird stuff. if were gonna start that then how bout we bring up how WMM will randomly just close.
It seems at just completly random times while working in WMM be it 2 to 3 hours or two to three minutes when I go to add a clip it will just close and ill have to load from where ever I last saved. then to make matters worse after I wait 45 minutes to an hour for the project to load it will close again as soon as I add one clip.
The only way to fight this is I have to save the project as a movie file, import the movie and start a new project using those clips.
Its a real pain in the ass when I find a Mistake in those clips.

it sounds like youre suffering from codec problems and orphan frames...
unfortunately i know what the problem is but i dont know how to fix them...
my fix was to get on a different program... i went from wmm to ulead to Sony Vegas...
perhaps looking into Magix or maybe Sony Vegas Movie Studio 4 (+DVD) might help... (or since you have it Premeire)
Magix is like $50 or less and SVMS4 is around $100 or less (depending on where you go)
granted you will have to have patience to work with a new program, BUT i think learning a new program and the patience it takes to do so is well worth it when you run out of patience with WMM...
either way good luck!
