well, as an anime show usually takes me into an intensive trip when it's good, I'll have to admit that I cried at the end of cowboy bebop (though the song may have accelerated that a bit ) and a bit in wolf's rain as well (the two ultra-depri-eps)

The first time I cried at an anime series was... Pokemon... ("Pikachu's Goodbye"), but that was a long time ago. As for now, everytime I watch a certain episode in Noir... I start crying like I "lost a pet (dog or goldfish)," as someone had noted...

Robotech Masters Saga: Zor blows himself up to save Dana and the city below, from the Invid. He blew himself up and he ended up making the situation worse! So he dies in vain! I was bawling because he hardly ever shows emotion, but before he dies and saves Dana's life, he KISSES her. OMG! PAINFUL!

The only time I've ever really cried at the end of a series was Air. I'm thinking the writers just got together one day and started saying: "What ending would rip the viewer's heart out, throw it on the ground, and stomp on it a few times for good measure?"

I've had quite a few times where I came close to crying. The only time where I could think of crying for anything related to tv was seeing Aeris die in FF7. From there on in it became a personal vendetta against Sephiroth. Maybe thats why the game is so popular?

Saikano anyone? Of the saddest animes out there. Manga is four times as worse.
Of course I think everyone got a little sad to see EVERYONE die in Evangelion, right?
I didn't cry, but I do always get depressed when Ed from FMA always goes emo about his mom.
Oh! And sometimes, if an AMV is done just right, the tears flow! And sometimes it's about an anime I've never seen if it's the right music. :o
