Is it Tacky

Post by RajinAsian » Sun Apr 23, 2006 11:24 am

To make multiple AMV's with different music, but the same video?

I am entrapped with myself to develop a good final cut with Advent Children, and it's a good practicing video I think as well. I was going to begin my upload of Intial D, but I feel like I should try and make the best of AC.
Do you remake videos with different music - and of course different scenes and rolls.

Huh?

A lot of creators 'specialize' in one or two shows. Look at all the DBZ, Naruto, and InuYasha creators for examples. There's no (real) shame in it, especially with a really long series like DBZ or InuYasha...however, doing more than two or three Advent Children AMVs would probably run you totally out of scenes, if you were trying to make the videos look totally different.

I agree with BMA. You're going to run out of good material.

I'd say go through your different videos/songs and choose the best combo and focus on that. If no one song jumps out at you, I'd say you haven't found the right song for the footage yet :)

The pair should just work together.

Yeah, pretty much you've gotten what you needed. It's actually for that reason that I try to never use the same show twice in an AMV. It's not frowned upon, really, your average 26 episode show might be able to get out a handful of ideas without problem but after that the variety of creatiosn you can make and the footage at your disposal starts to shrink.

i dont think its "tacky" per se' but if i liked one of your videos and went to check out your profile for more videos from you, id be less likely to download ALL your videos...

I find myself getting stuck on one or two animes occasionally cause i like them... but I also try to keep a variety...

theres also amvers that start with one series, and keep making to that till they become obssesed with a new series and stick with that for a while too... and so on and so on...

if you want to make a bunch of practice vids that never get released thats your choice as well... but at the same time its your choice to release a video not public opinion on weather or not its "tacky"

I've released SEVERAL practice vids O.o

as someone who is currently in a rut on one series, heres a piece of 'you know you've used too much of the same source advice':

you can make as many AMV's from the same source until you start to re-use the same scenes. Once you do, you've probably mined it to death and it'll probably be time to move on to something else.

I'm getting to that point myself with EVA, but I think I have at least 2 more vids to go before I start stumbling on the reused footage!

I've got three video ideas for Trigun (five once I have the manga material I need, which won't be for a while), and I don't trust anyone else to make the video I want with those particular songs. Simple as that. :P
