FourCC identifier in newest AMVapp?

Post by Yogurtron » Sun Apr 30, 2006 1:06 am

Well, i've finally gotten around to getting an intro on one of my videos I finished a while back (just a short one saying my name, and the name of the video), and so I'm making the little mini video for it. Problem being? I'm using the newest AMVApp, and its version of XVID does not have the debug tab.... where I would normally say make this DX50, so it stays as xvid. So I try appending the files in vdubmod, and lo-and-behold, they're incompatible, because this one says xvid, the main video says DX50.

So yeah... how do I get my intro into DX50 without the tab? And any suggestions on connecting the two videos without VDubmods buggy appending code would be appreciated too.

I dont have AMVApp installed, but in my XviD start menu group there is a thing called Nic's fourCC Changer.

Change the one that says DX50 back to XVID (if you did encode it with XviD). There isn't really a reason to change the FOURCC to begin with, it's not like XviD is a new format anymore and you need to trick software players. I don't really know why it is suggested in the guides since about every software and hardware player I know supports both FOURCCs.

Also I would avoid joining files in Virtualdub, unless you know about the different frame types and how to join them, else you could get a messed up video.

Well I'll be, my XVID has that fourCC changer in it too. It did just the trick, the files appended perfectly. Thanks a lot Janzki.

And Zero1, your position is understandable, however, I will stick to the guide's suggestion as a "just in case" measure, and since I'm using only divx compatible stuff anyway (due to lack of experience with the more advanced stuff). Thanks though.
