The ability to give someone cancer with one of my videos. I'm not quite there yet, but I hope to have a breakthrough soon.

^ as if eye strain isn't enough.

As a viewer, I want to see well placed emotional/video sync.

Practically, my first priority is my own entertainment. Abstractly, my first priority is execution (which would include things like synch and the effectiveness of the audio/video combination).

Technically- synching and just making sure the clip makes sense for what I'm trying to do with it.

The most important thing to me is how I feel about it. As long as I'm happy with it when it goes public, that's what's important. I want people to like it, and I'm happy when they do, but few of my AMV ideas are ever tied to one specific genre and therefore don't really hold up in contests.

Of course the reason I make AMVs to begin with is to get all those damn AMV ideas out of my head. I mean, South Park music to Laputa? WTF??
Watch My Videos! I assure you they don't suck!

I agree with SarahtheBoring. Though next to that, the most imporant thing the idea behind the AMV.

Clip selection is the most important thing for me.

Most important?

To have a fucking idea what I want to edit
before I find myself in front of my screen.

Why?

Because I find really painful to have so many quality materials, vids, sound, Softs... without any other ambition than:
"put two shots aside and perhaps cut.
Or not?
I know, I'll make a fade!
Damn! It sucks...
Perhaps someone will find it good?
Let's upload it."
