It wouldnt be good if you write out the anime and song for all the videos on the ballot sheet... because of course people are going to look at it, and just seeing some of the combinations would spoil a lot of the videos...
I thought of that as well, but I'm at something of a loss for what to put there then... Video title?

Creator name.

Limit the number of videos per creator to one. Place a bumper before the video with the creator name and have it in the quick recap.

Also have the anime so people are doubly sure of what they're picking. This may eliminate blind judging but in a contest such as this I don't think it's all too much of an issue.

Perhaps just list the audio source? If the videos are given something else in addition, such as an ID number, that should be sufficient, I think. Audio sources will probably be varied enough that there wont be much overlap.

This leads to...how strict is the 30-second limit? How many frames can we be over and still get in? Anime North did something like this last year; entries were docked points for each second over the limit. But that may not work here.

Woo! More activity here!

I agree with you that blind judging may not be as big an issue as we typically make of it. Having not done audience judging before, I'm uncertain how big an issue it is, but I think the vast majority of the audience could care less who the creators are anymore.

However, I don't think that'll make a good distinguishing mark for individual videos. Out of all the info available for the videos, creator name is the least likely to remind people which video it was. I'm more inclined to go with audio source as Zarxrax suggested, since it shouldn't give the joke away, and will still remind the audience of the video.

As for strictness on time-scale, I'm hesitant to be leniant, and also hesitant to be not-lenient. If I extend the time limit, then we'll start hearing from people who can't cut their vid shorter than 45 seconds, etc. etc.

But excluding a good video because it's three seconds too long makes me an ass.

I'm gonna say that a few seconds over is not cause for disqual, but you have to appeal to me directly (PM), so I can tell if it's getting out of hand.

(Anime North did something like this? Crap, I thought I was being original...)

Their "Challenge" contest last year was to create a video that is one minute long. Exactly one minute. This year it's to "use anime footage to lampoon a country and western video".

Well, there is my brilliant Interstella 5555 video...

I live in CA. Can I still submit it, or should I just put it in a collection of little idiot sketches someday?

Also, you could take the videos at the end of the contest and make them into one long amv, a la AMV Hell, I believe CSUN's (Cal State University Northridge) is doing something like that at their con this year, Mikomi-con. Just an idea.

Uh, AWA accepts entries world-wide. Official rules should be up within a week or so.

We may do something like that for ease of distro on the org. We'll see after we get some idea of the response volume.

Cool. I think I'll go make some more inane videos. DO you want a little studio/artist watermark in the lower right hand corner? (A la AMV Hell 3?)
