Not really. Infact, Square has to be the most rediculously easiest when it comes to ripping FMVs, as I own nearly every game they've made since FFVII and am able to rip the FMVs from them all with ease...except Kingdom Hearts.sayde wrote:well, it's not something that's easilly done. Believe me. I forgot exactly what it involves, but you'd have to be able to search the entire KH iso's raw data and pin-point the start and end positions of the mpeg-2 streams. From there, it's a matter of creating an application that can extract it. That's how people are able to create these various different ripping applications for mainly SE's games. SE can be pretty slick at hiding those fmv's.devilmaykickass wrote:If those FMVs can "definitely be ripped" then please, enlighten me on how it's done.

Actually, if you want me to be really anal on the issue, then my statement still holds true. In my previous post, I said "SE" a.k.a Square-enix--which was formed after the ps2's release. Not Square (a.k.a. squaresoft). Anyways, all ps1 games are easy to rip fmv's from so long as you have the cd-rom. Otherwise it can a tiny bit tougher to extract them from an iso.devilmaykickass wrote:Not really. As far as ps2 games go, SE for the most part, hides there fmv's for some there games very well. FFX, KH, FFXII, FF7:Dirge of Cerberus, DQ8, and I think (Grandia 3 and Star Ocean 3) come to mind. (I'm sure there has got to be more too.) Go ahead. Just try to use an extractor program on those. lol The only reason why people are able to rip ffx's fmvs so easilly is because people have gone through the trouble of developing an application to rip the fmv's from that game.
Seriously, they seem to take great care to hide these fmv's on some of there more popular games for ps2 with kh2 being an obvious exception--though they did at least format the fmv's so the audio streams weren't inlcuded with the mpeg-2 streams. While I'm sure it's mainly just coincendence to some extent, I still find it interesting. I wonder what makes them format there games the way they do?
