Getting this topic back on track, my favorite editors tend to be older, although I don't know why. They're just cooler. 8-)

Meri - Her vids were the very first that I ever saw and she continues to make great stuff today. VegettoEX too, cause he does a lot of stuff with her now.

Lostboy - His are fun and he does great lyric-matching, which I'm a sucker for. Good timing too.

DokiDoki - because, as already said, consistantly good comedy is nearly impossible.

Suberunker Studeosh - His stuff is great too. Both comedy and drama. Anyone who can make, as different as they are, A Different Side of Me, Football, and Still Preoccupied with 1985 is top rate in my book.

Duane Johnson - cause he rules the old-school AMVs. Makes great stuff with limited resources.

Others include Scott Melzer, EK, Kwasek, and K-type. I'm sure there's others I'm leaving out, but that's all I can think of for now.
Yeah, the AMV thesis....that was me.

Editors whose vids I download without hesitation and want to be like (in no particular order):

Prodigi
Ileia
JudgeHolden
Decoy
Fall_Child42
IcyCloud
Vlad G Pohnert

I really admire the editing style and flow from these people, and hope when I grow up I can edit like them.

Off the top of my head, those that I regularly dl from (and consistantly enjoy the videos) are - in no particular order:

JudgeHolden
JaddziaDax
JubJub2
Jade_eyed_angel
Infinity Squared

I also have to agree with Knowname and give special props to Shino for the improvements he's made. :D

There are also several editors that I've dl'd one or two vids from that I've enjoyed immensely...but those are too numerous to mention.

Legend has it that he single handedly wrestled and killed a pack of 50 wild bears with his bare hands when they attacked him from behind, during AX of '98.

How can you not respect that :amv:

Teh Flux for obvious reasons. His style is not only pefected right down to the smallest cut, but it's also unique. No one, and I mean NO ONE can mix cut synchs with footages synchs quite like he does, and it all results in a fantastic and consistant flow in every video. He's just about the only editor out there right now that can make a video that makes me WANT to see the anime (His more recent Last Exile vid did exactly that).

I also <3 the Hypeo and the rest of BSP of course, purely due to the actiony/dramay goodness that keeps coming out of em.

That all being said, there are tons of editors who've done videos I like, but very few aside from the above mentioned that wow me with pretty much every video (Warheart and Seira Lorna are good examples of this, I love like half their work to no end).
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

I tend to like 'styles' more than specific editors unless an editor tends to focus on that particular method.

Bakadeshi tends to focus on story elements and has an obsessive compulsive need for his video release to be of a high quality. I found that his middle, to earlier works tend to be somewhat better from an originality and story point of view, but the later works are techically amazing.

Otohiko makes some weird ass stuff. You never really know what you're going to get when you grab one of his videos. Will it be two minutes of uh... stuff set to an alfred hitchcock theme, or will it be a doctoral theses on why boobies feel great?

I have a tendency to like the videos with a snarky sense of humor tied into them somewhere. Kind of like SarahTheBorings stuff (and posts).

I can't really say that there is any one particular person that I've liked ALL of their work (except myself of naturally.). Watching people grow and expand their talents is what keeps me going back to the same editors over and over again, but it's usually the older favorite videos that get pulled out of the vault whenever I'm in the mood for a marathon AMV session. Pwolf, Hitori, AielIleia, Godix... and so on and so on.

I dont realy have a fav editor asin a video I insanely like BUT I like people who give something refreshing for myself so in no particulair order.

Decoy, Paul Kievits and JCD

And before people go all "but you know those guys!!!" =\ They more or less shifted some stuff around in my way of thinking about video's myself and how I look at vids nowadays and I guese from that point I got to know them but realy though I think that for everyone their favo editor is or has to be someone who changed something in their visions of things regarding amv's in general. Hell Paul was the guy who motivated me with a local con here and at that con I met JCD who I guese inspired me to push my style and learn allot of new things and Decoy just upped the bar for me with pushing myself to be more daring and not to mention more experimental with things.
