Best eyecatches/commercial break bumpers in anime (and why)
So there is some discussion.
My personal favorite eyecatch (that little short animation that comes before and after the commercial break, not every anime has it) is the one from D.N.A.², which has the blue haired girl Karin being targeted by something and her jumping and shooting back towards the viewer, and then the return from commercial a bunch of glass shattering and her doing a legspin to sit back up from the ground. It's just so funny and actiony. I also like the first Full Metal Panic series' eyecatch, just for the sound. DAH DO DAH DI DAH DAAAH. :O
Any other favorites out there? I know it's a weird thing to like, but meh.

Cowboy Bebop's eyecatches are still the best IMHO.
For a "worst" eyecatch, I vote Noir. You really get into the slow mood of the story and quite absorbed by it, when suddenly this loud, annoying guitar riff blasts into your head ... twice. Argh.

Karin has some cute ones. Each episode features a different one
Ghots in the shell Stand Alone Complx - I seem to recall some tachikomas...
Gunbuster 2 - That cheesy "die busta" "DIE BUSTaa" always amuses me.
Beet - somehow, the show just can't stop introducing it's characters! I like the fun poses on the title cards. Milfa... hehe... heh.. Milfa.

To this day, I get a chuckle out of the old Mobile Suit Gundam eyecatch
*RX-78 in a dramatic pose brandishing it's beam saber as booming music rolls up*
...suddenly hearing these random people: "SHOOOM!"
Also, a vote for Giant Robo: The Animation.
Two awesome pieces of Kobayashi artwork (both looking sufficiently badass) as the Giant Robo growl rumbles in the background.

I currently like the eyecatches in Kaleido Star, especially what they do in the second season where they go back to the season one eyecatches when Sora stops being the headliner and begins to be unsure of herself.
And my favorite eyecatch for sentimental reasons mostly, is from the later TV episodes of Kimagure Orange Road. Mind you, this was many, many years ago, and at the time anime was fresh and new to me. I got so used to seeing the same eyecatches that when the final episode came and they went from Jingoro the cat walking seamlessly into the usual eyecatch where he stretches and flops to his side, it blew my mind.

I like this one
Steel Angel Kurumi has the characters reminding you to sit back and be in a well lit room and they do it with humor.
I'm very sick, twisted, perverted, insane, and FRIENDLY (^_^) /hug
