Kenshin

Post by Lenown » Sun Jun 11, 2006 11:21 am

Ok guys. I'm kinda new to the Kenshin series. But i got the WHOLE TV series rented though Netflix but i can't wait. Ok seen Trust and Betrayl both GREAT movies. But in Reflections, I was told its a movie made between the TV series, Witch i watched Reflections 2 times and still was kinda lost, But then watched 8 TV shows from it and it made more sence.

But anyways enough of my rambling. I was told Kenshin dies at the end of the TV series? And if he dies then what time line was the Motion Picture based in? I was told the Motion Picture was based after the TV series. Plus in Reflections. After Kenshin tells his wife that hes home there they come back to their house and find that Jinchu paper hanging above the door then kenshin runs off, Comes back face all bloody. What happened while he was gone?

But like i said i'm new to the TV series so don't flame me to hard for my lack of knowagle on the subject, And hopefully theres no grammer nazi's thats going to tell me i have bad spelling. Because i already know i do :D

WTF, KingSchwill, you looking to get banned?

Anyways, Lenown, here is how the order of the story should be watched...

Samurai X: Trust & Betrayal
Rurouni Kenshin TV Season 1 (until episode 28)
Samurai X: Movie
Rurouni Kenshin TV Season 2 and 3
Samurai X: Reflections

Samurai X takes place 10 years before the Kenshin TV series.

The movie takes place just before you meet Saitou, since they make a reference to it in the movie, but after Sano gets over his fear of trains.

Reflections sums up the major events in the series, but ends the story about 15 years after the TV ending. Reflections follows the manga, and does not follow the TV series. Which is why Genzai and his daughters are not in it, and Enishi is back for revenge. The TV series does not kill off Kenshin at the end of the series.

When Kenshin and Kaoru see the Jinchuu (Punishment by Man) note on the door, that is the beginning of the Jinchuu arc, which would have been an entire TV season dedicated to Enishi's revenge on Kenshin. The arc is a string of events that lead Kenshin to lose his will to live, and introducing more people related to Tomoe. Eventually when Kenshin goes to the island, there are more people that actually go with him, and there are 5 or 6 fights on the island instead of just Kenshin vs. Enishi. The real ending, what actually happened in the manga, would be the part where Kenshin hands down his Sakaba-tou to Yahiko, and you see baby Kenji in the background with Kaoru.

However, the TV series was cancelled before the Jinchuu season was to be animated. This season is only in the manga.

However, the Reflections OVA decided to add some new story that takes place 15 years after the series, and Kenshin is suffering from Tuberculosis, which I believe is what you may have thought was blood. He goes to war for the Japanese government in mainland China to help protect the peace of Japan, and somewhere along the lines, he either loses his memory or does not have faith he can make it back to Japan. Sano, who is already in mainland Asia (specifically Mongolia) based on the ending of the manga, finds Kenshin on the mainland and sends him home to his wife, Kaoru. From here, I think you should be able to figure out how the story ends.

The part i'm talking about. They see the paper on the door and kenshin leaves. Then it shows his wife and she hears the door open and theres kenshin with blood running down his face. Then shes talking to herself saying she can't ask him what happened. Then he tells her the story of the cross shaped scar. Then she loses it and runs outside the dojo and then that guy kidnappers her and takes her to the island.

I think you'll need to read the manga to know what happened at that part. I'm assuming that Kenshin went to fight someone since I haven't read the manga.

I recommend not watching Samurai X: the Movie -- it really sucked. Also, you don't need to watch third season of kenshin it's pretty lame as well. It saddens me that you watched reflections before finishing second season. :(
