Please do, a few nitpicks are always good. Just don't expect me to get to them 'til next week at least. I'm working for some slave driver's telegraph project or whatever. But once I'm done with that lameo's stuff, I'll have the time.Otohiko wrote:Re: Coffee's track(s) -
That's actually rather awesome. On first look, looks like exactly the kind of variety we need, I especially like the focus away from action as such and into... dare I say a kind of non-shameless practical humor?
Anyway, on first look I'm pretty impressed. I'll reserve a possibility of timing nitpicks - tell me if you want me to look/pick at anything specific in there.
I'll say that all your tracks so far are great variations on the "Life" theme in all sorts of cool and not-overly-obvious ways.

Don't make me get the whip out.
I mean him.

Jasper had quite a few things, both broad and specific it seems, to pick on in your track. Since I don't want to speak on her behalf, I hope we can get her to post here with these eventually.

I don't think we realy need a project coordinator present in order for us who know what we are doing with our tracks to finish our tracks. Once everything is finished, if Pen-pen isn;t around to give the final OK on things and put it all togfether, given a reasonable amount of time for him to show up, then we could always just put the thing together outrselves and release it.
We can work as a team without the leader present as far as editing goes.

While this is theoretically true, in practice I wouldn't want to attempt it, especially with with a project that is already chronically progress challenged.
People need to be poked and prodded sometimes and I will readily admit that Jasper is better at it than I am. However I have organized and made decisions as best as I could and when the segments are complete I will compile them into an aesthetically pleasing whole.
Also note that unlike more popular projects I can not set a hard and fast deadline and count on reams of volunteers to get the work done one way or another. We have very few editors on this project and therefore must accept their limitations as far as production speed is concerned (although encouragement always helps.)
Even so I am considering setting a preliminary deadline around the end of summer for all the individual segments. I am going to talk with people separately and try to get an idea of the necessary progress to see what will be feasible.
Finally, to all the people with completed segments, I realize that you are anxious about the release but I would urge you to refocus your energies. Start a new project and before long this will not seem so time sensitive. Not that I don't want to finish this project as quickly as possible, but you all have good enough portfolios that you don't need to need to show your segments to the world so they will see how good of an editor you are.
Anyways, I'm beginning to ramble, tomorrow I'll have more specific information.

That your still going with this project. That post was not ment in any way to say we don;t need you as a leader, I was simlply stating that the rest of us don;t need to wait around for you to appear to do our part, as some of us may conviniently be using the absence of you as an excuse to not work on our segments, maybe for fear that the work will be in vein.

I'm thinking of setting a project deadline for the end of august. The reasons are twofold: One I think people might be more inclined to finnish up if they have a set deadline and two it may turn out that I am leaving the country then.
This would give the editors 1 1/2 to 2 months to finish up and me 2-4 weeks to put it all together. The deadline for finished segments would be somewhere between August 1st and August 15th.
What do you guys think?

I have to tell you right away that there's about a 70% chance that I might not be able to do anything by august, including reconstructing my track.
I'll give you an update on this in 2 days.

I suppose we could always have a resolution to pass a tentative deadline at some point in the future when Oto returns. We can even institute a flexable deadline to a resolution to pass a tentative deadline at some point in the future when Oto returns. A Deadline to a resolution to a deadline, that sounds about right.
In all seriousness, I still think a deadline is a good idea, but I'd rather wait for Oto then drop him from the project. I also like to add that I personlly have no problem with segments being released individually by the editors who are getting tired of waiting. Just so long as those segments still appear in the completed project.
