WMM Codec/Video Importing Problem

Post by Monk_Kai » Wed Jul 05, 2006 4:16 pm

I'm new to WMM, having only used iMovie before (and then only for my own personal projects imported from video cameras) and I wanted to make a Music Video. I know you can't import protected DVDs without special software, but I have one of the Naruto Movies saved on my computer (and since it's already on there, I figured it probably didn't have protection). However, if I try to import it WMM tells me I don't have the right codec. I turned on "download codecs automatically" but it won't download it. It just keeps telling me to try importing again.

Since I couldn't get that to work, I figured I'd just tweak an old movie I made which shouldn't have protection on it because it's an actual movie I filmed and edited myself. I have it burned onto dvd, but when I try to import it it acts as if there's nothing on the disc. I open the dvd and there are two files, one called 'AUDIO_TS' and 'VIDEO_TS', and there appears to be nothing in them.

If anyone can offer any advice as to how to solve these problems I'd greatly appreciate it.

You have so many questions that are so varied. It would help if you took soem time to Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides

Thanks for the link! I actually managed to solve the first problem on my own though - turns out WMM doesn't come with DivX. I didn't know that  I'll have a look through that guide for the other problem :D

Don't edit with DivX clips... keep reading for the alternatives.
