I want everyone to know that the AMV contest winners will NOT be shown at any time durring or after the masquerade. Cosplay staff has made it perfectly clear they do no want us there.
A note on Masquerade though, from what I've been told it will be in the Baltimore Arena this year (for those curious).
Now this just FUELS the rivalry!

From what I was told a couple years ago it may actually have something to do with the AMV's upstaging the cosplayers (it's only what I heard, so I have no idea how true it is)... but yes indeed, AMV>Cosplay lol.

you could make the third showing the one where the winners are annonced. (of course that leaves only 2 showings for voting) but hey this contest is like "Who's Line is it Anyway" anyhow.

There are some comments about the cosplay I will not mention here. Is Otakon going to have Simulcast the amv contest this year so that way if main events gets to booked there is a second room. I belive AUSA did that for the cosplay and the amv contest one year? Just a thought since Otakon is growing.

We are just going to do it at Iron Editor. They will also be announced at closing ceremonies.

No, to my knowledge we have NEVER run out of room in Main for the contest. There is usually room left in the back, plus we do multiple showings.
The whole point of moving to Main was to get rid of the need for other spaces.

Okay, with the Masquerade being moved out of the BCC in to the Mariner's Arena IIRC, the largest space now has room (heh) to breathe. Truthfully, though, with that being said, I would rather that there is no preferred seating as I'm not sure about promoting an elitist attitude for the submitter/editors.

I just hope that the schedule is such where I can actually fit in a screening for this year's AMVs...

Last year, I was doing everything else but watch the AMVs :-(

It has nothing to do with promoting an elitist attitude... it's simply a way that the con (and contest staff) can say "thank you" to those who have submitted and provided this great programing for the con. If you are going to be at the con, why not have a good seat to see the work you made?
Best of all it doesn't cost anything... so why NOT do it?

I think it's a good idea - it would be nice to know that we don't have to worry about getting a good seat!

Just wanted to let everyone know that the AMV Contest (as well as the General Screenings) are going to be shown in Video 7 this year (the ballroom on level 400, formerly known as Main Events).
I do not know the exact setup for the room right now (number of screens, etc) but this is a 5,000 seat venue, so you should expect at least one giant screen for your viewing pleasure.
That's right, EVERYONE will be in the big room this year!

Those who contacted me about seating for the contest should expect an email from me (using the email address you sent your request with) some time in the next week or two with directions where and when to pickup your passes.
If you submitted this year and have not contacted me already, then I am sorry but the cutoff date for seating was July 14th (this past Friday). If anyone sent me a message and did not get a reply confirming you and your guests please contact me A.S.A.P.
