But what's interesting is that near the End of EoE, when Maya sees Ritsko again taking form from Rei, Ritsko types in "I LOVE YOU" into the keyboard of her laptop, and you can see how happy Maya was and she hugs Ritsko in joy......just before she 'evolved'. Does make you wonder.

Here's a question for the ages in Eva.

Just what the heck is LCL?

Now from different theries I've read and seen most people say it stands for Link Connection Liquid (This is also what the manga says butthat seems to have greatly diverged from the original story line). I think it satnds for Life Containing Liquid. Any other thoughts?

Rei/Ritsuko actually types "I NEED YOU". I have also *heard* that the storyboards for EoE describe the sigh before Maya goes pop as one of ecstasy. I can't find the storyboards so I can't verify this (maybe some1 knows of a link to the story boards?)

Personally I believe that Anno and crew implied that Maya was gay just to screw with the audience.

as for L.C.L.

[L.C.L.] The liquid that fills the inside of the entry plug. Viscous in nature and having a blood-like odor, when charged by electricity its molecular arrangement is altered, allowing L.C.L to perform a number of functions such as mentally linking the pilot and the Eva, supplying oxygen, and providing both physical and mental protection to the pilot. Well I'm glad you asked!

There's a bit of controversy with this question. Some believe it to be the soul of Naoko, or the soul of no one!

Naoko; because other strong female personalities were used in the other evas (and coz Unit00 tries to kill Rei... the whole Gendo thing)

And soulless because or its attempt to absorb Shinji (and enabling Rei to pilot it etc.)

Thats basically it. There's heaps of examples and such, but I'm tired.

I have seen every epsidoe of evangelion neon genisis at least 5 times a piece, and have seen all of the movies. If Rei was cloned from Lillith and Yui, and Kaoru was cloned from Adam.. then who was his human clone (or DNA strain)?

However... I want to talk about the last 2 posts.

First... who is in the EVAs?

1) It is clearly explained that the EVAs make use of the same "personality imprint" computers that operate the MAGI computers. It is explained that aspects of Ritsuko's mother are programed into each of the MAGI computers.

2) We know that EVA 02 is based on an imprint of Asuka's original mother (and not the woman who married her father later on.)

Yui was suppoed to be imprinted for EVA 01... but we know that Yui was not just imprinted... she was actually absorbed into 01 and that is why 01 is so much more powerful... and why Shinji connected with 01 so well... we also see that when Unit 01 goes berserk, it carris out the basic instinct of a mother protecting its child... on an animal level...

3) We know that Rei has no real mother. Therefore... some other female mind had to be used for the imprint of Unit 00

Since Unit 00 was made first, it would be logical to assume that it was another imprint from Ritsuko's mother. That would make sense...

however... there is MUCH more proof that it is Ritsuko's mother when we look at the actions of Unit 00 when it is out of control.
It tries to kill Rei (after all... that's what Ritsuko's mother already did once... because she knew that Gendo had more interest in Rei)
It tried to kill Gendo (after all... Ritsuko's mother was in love with him and knew that she had no feelings for him.)
It tries to kill Ritsuko (after all... Ritsuko is sleeping with Gendo...)
And let's not forget... the EVAs, when berserk, operate on a more feral-animal like version of the person in question - Yui acts as a mother animal protecting its young on a most animal level... Ritsuko's mother is acting from rage and jealousy... and if she's able to kill child Rei in a fit of Jealous Rage... imagine what a feral version of her mind can do...

Everything points to Ritsuko's mother as being the mind for imprint on Unit 00.

Now... for the question from LUX.

Rei is a clone from Lillith and Yui... but Kaoru is NOT a clone of Adam.

Personally, I think Kaoru is supposed to be the Angel Gabriel.
Gabriel is the Angel of Compassion.
Gabriel is described as having a human appearance.
Gabriel is the Angel that brings about the end of the world and he does it with music.
"Ode to Joy" has often been thought of as the music to reflect the coming of Gabriel... because the end of the world indicates the day we all are supposed to go to Heaven.

Kaoru is compassionate about Shinji's plight... he is so compassionate that he chooses his own destruction over that of the human race.
Kaoru shows up humming "Ode to Joy"
Ode to Joy plays as Kaoru makes his final move.
Kaoru is the last angel.
Kaoru is the only angel that looks human.

I know that it has been suggested that Kaoru is supposed to be the Angel Tabris, which is the Angel of Free Will... but this doesn't hold water for me... there are too many other aspects of Kaoru that work better on the concept of Gabriel than of Tabris.

However... Kaoru is NOT a clone...
