Hmm... ok.

Loveless: "hey, look people have cat ears. Cute. Oh, look battles and magic users... Hmm, whats with all the malnourished looking guys.... OH FUCK! CRAP! PLEASE STOP KISSING THAT LITTLE BOY!"

Berserk: "damm this is pretty good. I wonder where they are going with this." <looks> "damm this is getting pretty dark. Hey, what the hell happened to the plot... FUCK! YOU MEAN THIS IS HOW IT ENDS? GAAAAAAH!"

Evangelion: plagued by a cool show with a main character that I hate/loathe. damm shinji.

Escaflowne: Cool show and then... "oh, hey thanks Van, for saving my life and risking your kingdom and all. I'll call you". and the main character skips town. bitch.

Urotsukidoji: rented at 20:20 video before the managers knew what sick twisted anime there was. Mixed with the childrens videos no less. How many ways can demons and tentacle aliens rape high school girls? <puuuuke> This show will count the ways for you. My wife kept renting them hoping it would get better.... but it never does.

#4-Initial D, First Stage-I dunno, I just found it a bit too predictable, but the music is fantastic

#3-Serial Experiments Lain-I wouldn't say that I didn't like it necessarily, but a few episodes I was like...WTF.

I think I'll stop there because I don't really have a top 5.

1 Inuyasha (Hate the fanbase, hate the show, hate the horribly drawn out plot that takes two billions years to finish)

4 Dragon Ball GT (Killed the Dragon ball series. Z weakend it near it's end but GT KILLED IT)
5 Evangelion (Its ruining my life I like it soo much it's killing my grades and my life. I haven't made an AMV since I watched Episode 1)

Here we have a good example of why anime otakus will always tell you DON'T WATCH DUBS! To put it in simple terms:

The dubbed version of Sailor Moon is like watching a cartoon composed entirely of Barbie Doll ads. Yeah. Exactly like that.

The subbed version of Sailor Moon is like watching Barbie get drunk, kick her cat, and go on acid trips. Among other things.

Now, if only we could get the Care Bears to take up wearing guns and dating some cuddly new female Care Bears; there's a show I'd like to see!

I'm new to the boards here, but I saw this thread and wanted to toss my list out there. Its a lengthy one, but I compressed it to 5 just to show they sure are some real stinkers.

In no specific order (because they're horrific enough):

Humanoid - Released by CPM / US Manga Corps
MD Geist - Released by CPM / US Manga Corps
Crystal Triangle - Released by CPM / US Manga Corps
Dog Soldier - yep.. CPM / US Manga Corps.... - .-;;
Dangaioh OAV - (this is the 3-part OAV series released by Books Nippan in 1991), not sure if anyone renewed the license on it. Viz has the new series on DVD.. I can't imagine its much better ~.~

If you want to check these out just to see what I'm talking about, go for it - and godspeed, brave soul.

God I hate that peice of filth. Watching it forever removed a precious peice of my soul, leaving me gibbering and weak for days afterward. It was so bad, that my mind refused to let me even admit that I'd seen something so horrid. Like watching flies have sex on your sweaty arm after you've done yardwork bad.

What is even worse, was that having forgotten that I'd seen it, I came across an alternate cover in blockbuster, featuring entirely different artwork (bearing NO relation whatsoever to the actual contents of the show mind you) and picked it up a second time. Imagine my rage, and helpless tears of despair as I realized what I'd done. Having Keanu Reeves come in and take a dump on my couch, or perhaps even perching on my dining room table and taking one would have been vastly better scenario.

Did I mention, that MD Geist sucks? Don't be fooled by that one lone shot in the uh... manga trailer loop I think. That's the ONLY shot in the whole show where they actually tried to animate anything. Cromartie has better animation.
