RipIt4Me - New dvd ripper

Post by bum » Wed Jul 26, 2006 9:52 pm

http://www.ripit4me.org/ New dvd ripper, supports the latest copy protection. It's a free alternative to anydvd. Someone really should make a sticky saying STOP USING DVD DECRYPTER.

RipIt4Me uses DVD Decrypter and FixVTS together to get around the newer copy protections on DVDs. So don't get rid of your copy of DVD Decrypter so fast. I've used it, but so far only rarely.
Having trouble playing back videos? I recommend: Image

Yes I know rex, dvd decrypter is a great app. But for the average person who won't use any of its advanced functions ripit4me is a better choice simply because it supports all the latest forms of copy protection, which dvd dec doesn't.

Name me an anime which uses any copy protection that DVD decryptor can't handle. I've seen people bitching here on the forums about not being able to rip some holleywood movie with it, but I haven't heard of any problems with anime yet. If there is an issue, I might look into suggesting an alternative in the video guide.

Ok, since I can't test this out myself, and I don't see an answer on the ripit4me site, maybe someone else can answer this:

Ripit4me has 3 steps: dvddecryptor, fixvts, and then dvdshrink. Obviously, we don't need to do the dvdshrink step. I am wondering about the fixvts stepp though. The documentation doesnt make it clear whether thats something that needs to be done SPECIFICALLY FOR dvdshrink, or if its something that needs to be done in general. So, assuming we are opening the vobs in dgindex rather than dvdshrink, is the fixvts step necessary?

Do you know this from experience? Where you able to bypass the protection with any program? That makes me mad that it doesn't work! I use DVD decryptor for all my DVD ripping.. it sucks to know I'm going to have to use another program if I want to rip that DVD.

I tested it with DVD Decrypter right before I posted. AnyDVD ripped it fine though.
