Notes:

-Yes, the Elfen Lied actually progresses. I'm not sure why the Anime ended the way it did... because the Manga's way longer than that.

-Candidate for Goddess, even including the OVA, did not end. Period.

-lol on confusing Dragon Half and Dragon Pink. XP

-Hellsing: I would've mentioned that in my list... except that not only is the manga ongoing, but the new OVA series is supposed to correct where the TV series failed. Thus, I didn't want to include it due to a series still in-progress.

Yeah, prettymuch *saw the 13th ep a while back* It was prettymuch just a retrospective on the Goddess pilots with some optimistic nod to the new team

I thought Candidate for Goddess ended due to low ratings in Japan.
Whatever the problem was I never understood why it was picked up for distribution in the U.S. It makes sense when a U.S. distributer drops a finished series due to lack of U.S. buyer response, but picking up a dead series in Japan seems bad from the beginning.

I'd also like to add my frustration with the ending of Gantz. I'm sure the creators thought "No need to explain what Gantz is. That's not important. Boobies, guns, and indecision are!"
26 episodes of:
"Shoot him!"
"No, you shoot him!"
"I'm not going to fuckin' shoot him!"
"If you don't shoot him you're gonna fuckin' die!"
"I can't shoot him!"

And a good one as well. I liked Mobius because it never went cliche with the girls, even tho the stereotypes were all there.

i agree, its actually 168 eps but NOTHING got resolved which gave me the biggest WTF in any anime i've seen. in the end, they all run happily ever after when naraku is STILL alive. LOL ^^

Wow, I'm glad I gave up on it when I did then (episode 60 or so).

Some of those show I dont think ended abruptly. A few do end with an open end leaving the possibility for additional episodes or series (Genshiken, World of Narue, Fruits Basket). While the end is somewhat unsatisfying, it is a ending point unlike some anime which dont actually have an ending (yet) like Inuyasha.

Now a series that abrubtly "ends" and leaves you hanging would be like KareKano. The least that they could have done is finish up the story arc...
