Hating some thing because it's popular?????

Why is it a reason to hate something because it's popular?
it's popular because a lot of others like it so it's hated because others like it or what????
that is a thing i dont get, i just dont get it...

No offense i just want a better reason...

People tend to dislike things that are overdone. Linkin Park, Naruto, Eva, DBZ, etc.

Personally, I don't care. I see no reason why someone can't come along and do a DBZ video to Linkin Park and make it awesome. If someone sees it and goes, "Bah, DBZ and Linkin Park!" and doesn't bother to download it... well, that's their loss.

Don't worry too much about it.

In that case... overdone in the instance that it's all that people talk about. "ZOMG stfu! Enough about that already!" And because when something goes on TV, you get the people who watch it for the first time... and possibly misunderstand something due to the dub... and then try to argue about it...

I'd say that's why.

I don't like things that are overdone if I feel they aren't good.

I watched Evangelion, I didn't like it, I didn't like Naruto either, but I don't mind Linkin Park.

The thing in real life that bugs me are cell phones, yes they are handy, but I hate how even babies have their own and people who can never get off them. They are incredibly overrated, and since I don't like them when they are abused, they're overrated-ness makes me dislike them...more.

Or something. >_>

Most people who dislike something that's popular either feel that it's over exposed or just plain done to death.

However, there is a segment of the anime community which thinks it's superior to all others. These elitists frown on any "common" anime series since popularity = common in their minds and refuse to accept it's possible value. People like this will only support series that have a lot of "critical" acclaim, like non-anime fans calling it a masterpiece.

In other words, an anime elitist is a pompous jerk who thinks every other fan is a lower form of life and only likes anime which gets special "respect." An elitist isn't really a fan at all, it's just someone looking to make themselves feel superior to others.

That's my thoughts at least.

Why? The larger the fan following, the larger the idiots...

Example?

Playstation. More good games than any other system. Also, more horridly disgusting games than any other system...

More doesn't mean better all the time...

Michael Jordon missed More shots than he made... He made so many though that a ton went in as well...

DBZ fans start fights in malls with people who like good valid anime, like Cowboy Bebop. One of this forum's members, not sure who, mentioned he got into a fight with a dbz dickhead...

Naruto's starting to pop up too. I mentioned how mature and realistic Boys Be and Please Teacher are and this kid who's probably 2 in mental age but 17 in physical age called them hentai sex fests: "Look at those covers and titles!"

I also did notice that it's the kiddie anime that gets the majority of adult morons and that oddly enough, the hentai loving crowd are mature adult people who think practically and dont' go around saying "YEAH, SEX IS BEST WATCHED... BLAH BLAH" and of note, I'm one of the many millions of hentai watchers who's wife is also a hentai lover...

So come on, stop being a kid and watch a real MAN'S media... ANIMATED P0RN0!!!!

I don't get why people don't just like what they naturally like.. always giving into other people perceptions. Some people think if something is popular it must suck because most people are retarded..

basing what you like on other peoples perception is what is retarded. Just fuck the crowd.. if you get a feel for something go for it but if you withhold yourself based on popularity, what others think around you without looking into the thing yourself and coming up with your own conclusion then you're technically being a bit close minded.

Hey I use to hate DBZ still find it kinda pointless now but flippin the channels one day i ran into a goku vs vegeta fight and was like nothing i've ever seen. tell me what beats dbz in terms of aerial fighting? matrix tried it once and man that was pretty lame IMO.

Anyways no need to try to be cool in the minority crowd or the cool cloud.. I like a mix of things from both ends. Because I'm like natural like that baby!

Who said I hate dbz because tons of people like it? I'm just stating facts that have happened and that Babe Ruth stat is neat as well...

However, I also hate dbz ever since I saw Record of Lodoss War and Oh My Goddess for the first time...

That's when it hit me... Animated movies can have a nice strong budget to work with, possess lovable characters, and use a story that an adult can appreciate. That and hentai...

But I can put in a ton of personal reasons why DBZ is a piece of trash. Ugly men, Ugly women, Ugly 3 episode fights that COULD have ended in one had they just stopped yakking... lack of story, producers wanted to drag the series on EVEN WHEN THE ORIGINAL AUTHOR TOLD THEM TO STOP... It's turned into a $$$ anime where the makers only want to milk the stupid public...

What makes me sad is that some potentially GREAT anime is falling to this phenomenon and thus causing a backlash of major hate...

Examples?

Naruto: It would have been good if 90% of it was NOT shit filler...
Inu Yasha: I was surprised I stuck around past 30 eps, and in the End, it's not done past 150 eps...

Make enough money yet? Bastards...
DBZ: dur...
Bleach: I LOVED the start of the series and the story, but then I noticed a dramatic drop in image quality past the 30th episode and the fights started going DBZ style where they're just about to start but then end at the end of an ep due to stupid explanations that could have been done in 10s. rather than 10mins...

There are VERY few anime that's super popular and whose filler isn't total trash...

One of the most renowned anime I've seen and will never get tired of is Ranma 1/2. It's episodic nature fits it like I Love Lucy and other kooky American sitcoms...

So, I'm just trying to say that anime turning popular doesn't necessarily make it trash to me, I like some popular anime too, but when idiots in said popular anime's community start attacking other people, that's when I realize that stupid anime can make people stupid...

Last I checked, nobody who loved Please Teacher, Girls Bravo, or any hentai run up to me saying DON'T BUY THIS, BUY LADY BLUE IT'S BETTER!! yeeessh...
