Re: Otakon Results
Wait a second... I thought the rules said no videos that had premiered/won previously were allowed into the contest. I really suck at reading.

Re: Otakon Results
I think it depends on submission date. A couple of years ago I entered a video to Otakon, and then it won at a different contest a month prior, but it was still fine.BasharOfTheAges wrote:Wait a second... I have no idea how to use this new forum.

Re: Otakon Results
I actually sent it to otakon first before any of the other contests it won at (AX and Akon).Kusoyaro wrote:I think it depends on submission date. Ah, see I do suck at reading, because I thought I saw something about that not being allowed either (I've done the same thing in the past at other cons). Congrats to you and to all the others.Castor Troy wrote: I actually sent it to otakon first before any of the other contests it won at (AX and Akon).

Re: Otakon Results
Off-topic, sorta, I didn't believe yours deserved to be overflow. The judges decision on putting you with that lot was a bad one. I watched the entire four hours of overflow, and yours stuck out as a serious level above. It deserved to make the finalists.BasharOfTheAges wrote:Ah, see I do suck at reading, because I thought I saw something about that not being allowed either (I've done the same thing in the past at other cons). We also just found out that our video won another contest we entered at, after we entered it into Otakon. So I hope that doesn't disagree with the rules.
Congrats, everyone.

I'm pretty sure most of the contests that stipulate the not having won is based on the submission deadlines. So you enter into say, Otakon and Expo. (in Sierra Lorna's case Otakon, AN and Evolution) They are close enough together that you have to submit them before either con occurs. The rules when they exist are to prevent the same video from being sent to cons and winning time after time for months on end.
Of course I am not with Otakon, but I have yet to hear about a video being reprimanded for a win relatively close to the convention, particularly not when winning after the deadline to submit into the other convention. You almost can't help it with the big cons because the deadlines are often months ahead of the event itself and we all know that the period starting with Acen and ending with AWA has a lot of cons packed together. You get overlap.
So have fun and bask in your guys' wins. Having seen a couple of the winners already, I'll say they are wonderful. Once the rest go online, I think i have some downloading to do.
