Otakon licenses!!!
So far the companies are getting some pretty damn good titles.
Source here.
ADV:
Utawarerumono
Shin Angyo Onishi
FUNimation:
....
SCHOOL RUMBLE!!! (that includes the 2 seasons and the OVAs)
That title WILL be the next Azumanga Daioh and WILL be the next source to be abused for comedy AMVs.

*groans* At least since Funi has SR maybe it means the transfer will look nice (going off of FMA, not DBZ - which is always hovering at the back of my mind), but I'm not getting my hopes up otherwise.angelx03 wrote:So far the companies are getting some pretty damn good titles.

I can't get over that stupid name ADV is releasing Utawarerumono under, though.
My profile on MyAnimeList | Quasistatic Regret: yeah, yeah, I finally got a blog

Is it just me or is the licencing a bit slim this year?
Seems like hardly anything has been picked up. Or am I just not paying enough attention?
Anyway, School Rumble looks pretty good and I'll probably check out Utawarerumono (has anyone figured out if the english title "Shadow Warrior Chronicles" was actually correct? Read that some think they mixed up two of their properties.)
Don't really have an interest in the rest.
I'll second shiro_clanclan on De Capo and Shuffle!. Haven't seen anything of them except for some promotional art but the summeries on ANN make them sound excellent and I've heard some very interesting things about Shuffle! especially.

If only I understood Japanese. . .

Or Geneon. But considering Kadokawa's relationship with ADV, my money is on them. This would also be good if ADV does eventually get The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. The Shuffle! reference in TMoHS would be so much better if some of the english voice actors have roles in both US editions (how it is in the japanese versions).angelx03 wrote:Some poster in AnimeOnDVD said that Kadokawa Shoten mentioned Shuffle! "is" licensed, but they didn't mentioned who though. In all honesty, this is the type of title ADV would get.
Although it seems that the price of the TMoHS license is gonna be high...
And Funimation getting School Rumble is surprising to me, since it seemed more like the typical ADV type show (school-based comedy: AzuDai, Cromartie, FMP? Fumoffu, etc.). With all the acquisitions Funi have had lately, it looks like they are doing what ADV did a few years ago, snapping up series to beef up their Funimation Channel TV lineup.
