Just FYI, I think you could have made that a little more clear in your first post. Or at least mentioned it near the beginning of the contest description. You had lots of nice background information, but as I read through the [you've gotta admit, pretty darn long :P] description I found myself wondering over and over what exactly you were expecting people to do for the contest. The answer was buried about midway through your post. So you may want to edit the description to make this point a little more prominent.

If it's directly at the beginning, then people might just look at that and nothing else and then I get a bunch of videos that don't follow what's written.

But you (with the help of eahs) make a point. With so much information to delve through, people may miss something important and mess up their video.

So instead of at the top, I'll put a recap at the end after they've read through the entire thing.

The post is as long as it is because I spent all of one night and all of the next morning getting everything together. I didn't want this to end up like my sister's MEP  gasp! You should have seen the things she got for that. I wanted to make myself very clear, but I don't know how many people have the attention span to go over every detail laid down.

It's nice to have a recap at the end to remind the reader of what they've read. If there's something in particular that they've forgotten, they can always go back up to what section they're interested in.

*edit* But alas, it's true. People might be driven away by such a long post, so there will be something at the top as well as the bottom. *

This post right here was originally where I posted the examples of the Hamsters and avatars, but since they're in the first post now. And then I was going to use this post to announce the winners, but then I thought that was too far down the page, so I decided to put it at the bottom of the first post...
So I have no idea what I'm gonna use this post space for...

well one thing that you are doing that hurts is trying to limit people to 4:3 aspect ratio. The problem comes in that most anime done in the past three years is done in 16:9 format. That means editors need to choose weather to cut the edges (which depending on the scene removes vital portions that make the video work) or squishing it (it looks terrible). in fact, it honestly irks me when people screw up the aspect ratio because in most cases it looks amature and like the editor had no clue how to handle the footage properly.

At worst if you have a 4:3 aspect ratio monitor and/or tv, you get black bars. You'll get better videos by letting people work with the native ratios of their shows.

i've dealt with contests and I have seen everything from tv ratio (virtually all old cel drawn shows) to widescreen format (a lot of the new stuff) to film ratio (a few of the theatrical releases) and when from video to video it looks fine. It's when people mix aspect ratios within the same video where it looks strange.

Just something to consider.

(To Sailor Earth) See? See?! They agree!

Hey Illia Sadri, you're saying what I said in the first place when Sailor Earth was helping me make the rules. I was saying that it depended on the anime being used. Check out the first post again. It's been edited to what I orginally wrote.

Okay, to everybody who's watching this thread, I thought I'd alert you that some updates in the rules have been made, and I'm also refining the thread a little (making it look a lil' schnazzy! ^.^) I hate that I don't get alerts when someone updates a post. That's important stuff!
If you really don't care to go back through and re-read all of the rules, then PM me and I'll pick out what I updated and send it to you, but I suggest re-reading it all anyway (especially if you read it when I first posted it about a week ago. It's always good to refresh your brain).
Also, the post above Illia Sadri's post has been updated. Check it out to see what it says.
Well, the Snow White round has officially begun and I'm looking forward to your entries! ^.^ Have fun, everybody!

Hey Niji Tsuki,
How come you don't wanna use guest judges? I wanna be one! (please, pretty please, pretty please, please, please?!) Dezbo21 uses guest judges on her videos. In fact, weren't you one in this past round? So I have you to blame for not wining! Mwahaha! Nevermind. I'm entering the next round anyway. But I wanna be a guest judge. Can I!
WTF, over.

-_-

*sigh* No, Blue. You're part of Rose Studios.

You see folks, Blue's a friend, and the rest of Rose Studios is family (ie Me and My Siblings).

In a sense, you're kind of a guest judge because I'd have to send the videos to you if you wanted to judge them. Not like my siblings who are in the same house and can just crowd around the computer and watch.

To bishounenaddict, sorry. You can't be a guest judge because you're not Rose Studios. You referred to Dezbo21 and her use of guest judges, and Sailor Earth can agree with me on this one, guest judges take too long. Heck, Dezbo21 can agree with me on that! Right?

The Done to the Death rounds seemed like they took forever to get started merely because everybody was waiting for the guest judge to give the green light. So that's my reasoning behind that.
