i was watching 007 vegita's final conflict and at the beginning of the video he has this really cool text effect
on his website, he said he uses premiere 6.0 and after effects 6.0
i know this effect cant be made in premiere so how can this effect be achieved in after effects?

not sure how to make the green glow along the side...but the other part can be easily done in premiere
make a bmp in mspaint of a black circle on a white background and import it into your project. (make sure the pic is the same size as your video...probably 720x480)
overlay the bmp on top (on an upper video track) of the clip(s) you want to do the effect on
apply a color key on the bmp, and set the key color to white (this makes everything white transparent)
using the motion effect (every clip has motion and opactiy already applied to it) select scale. set a keyframe for the start and end points of your effect and start at 100% (or bigger if your circle was too small). go to the end keyframe and drag it down to 0%
I use premiere pro...so some of the things may have slightly different names...but they should still mean the same general thing (opacity and transparency for example)

(goes back into premiere to research the glow around the edge of the circle)
...can't seem to get the glow in premiere alone...and I'm not experienced enough with after effects to tell you what effects to use.
but I can tell you that the effect I explained above (when applied to text) is exactly what you want. (minus the glow)
the glow is the bottom layer, probably something using distortion (some sort of warp) and polar coordinates. (depending on how it looks, you may want to have this as the middle layer)
the middle layer is the text
the top layer is the circle that covers the whole text at first and then has it's size reduced

I tried light rays once - it turned out kinda okay
Purges Dodgy Premiere Pro Light rays
1. Create a circle matte with the title option
File>New>title>Use ellipse tool>File>Save AS
2. Put the cirlce in your timeline
3 Apply these effects in order
noise - amount 100
sharpen - amount~150
radial blur - amount 100 Method Zoom
radial blur - amount 100 Method Zoom
you might be able to alter that to achieve what you want.
Actually i think that effect is a plugin effect for after affects called light wipe.

Re: How to do this cool text effect?
If you do, it's easy. Just apply Shine to the text-layer and it will create an effect like the gif posted, just different. Play around with the shimmer, colours, lenght and width of the effects (all to be found when you expand the properties of the effect) to create what you want. Just play around with it. It's all WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) anyway and self-explanatory if you understand basic english.uP|iN|fLaM3z wrote:i also have trapcode shine
For the black circle effect, read up.

Premiere has an effect called "alpha glow". That's what you want.
