Give me your opinion on this.

You know how it was debated (in the actual movie making busniess) to turn a part of an anime show into an REAL LIVE action movie? For example, they were considering to make the Cel Saga of the anime Dragonball Z an actual movie. If they did that with any anime show, do you think they would totally butcher it? :D Or do you think they would do a fairly good job on filming it? If one of your favorite anime shows (One Piece, Inuyash, Naruto, etc) was made into a live action movie, would you go see it?

This thread will probably last two seconds, but I was always curious to hear someone else's viewpoint on the matter (besides mine and my cousin's).

1) something of DBZ was made into live action

2) why would they spend the money with the necessary CG, paying actors, sets, stunt doubles, props and other items when they could mearly make the anime movie of it. :?

It's happened at least a few times. DBZ and Sailor Moon both had godawful (IMO) live action interpretations and Initial D had a live action film as well (which I haven't seen). For a long time, there was a Neon Genesis Evangelion live action film in the works, but it's been put on hiatus. I'm sure there have been others, but those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.

As far as what I would like to see made into live action, that would be nothing. Seeing an anime redone as live action just doesn't have the same feel as the anime would IMO.

DragonBall Z, Sailor Moon, Cutey Honey, and a ton of fight games have all been made into live action movies.

I have to say that without fail, they've pretty much all sucked. Of course, I've seen all of the ones mentioned above so it's not like that stopped me.
Cutey Honey, at least had some hottie action going for it. Actually, a few of the sailor girls were pretty hot too... but in that too young kind of way.

If a show was made into a live action, I'd probably wind up seeing it, even if it sucked.

Cutey Honey featuring the uber hotness of Eriko SATOH (the same girl who played the lead in the Densha Otoko TV series). Worth watching just for her in the skimpy suits.

GTO was made into a real-life series, which I found to be just as good as the anime after you got into it. They made it a little bit less of a comedy though and more of a drama.

There is also a Saikano live action movie, a HORRIBLE Maison Ikkoku live action movie, and a mediocre You're Under Arrest TV live action series, among others.

I saw the Initial D live action movie, and well, as Initial D, it sucked. The characters were all wrong, the motivations were wrong, the acting was mediocre, and overall feel was wrong. The only things right were the car drifting/racing scenes. Other than that, it felt like your typical Hong Kong action movie - plot, characters, and look. As a HK action movie, it was OK. As an Initial D live action movie, it was horrible.

I'd forgotten about the Initial D movie. That movie grated. Chick in the HK and chinese movies always get the short end of the stick. She WAS pretty cute though.

GTO was awesome. A totally different feel than the anime, or the manga.

Another, that I'd forgotten about is: Hana Yori Dango (boys over flowers?).
Which in spite of the odd premise worked out reasonably well.

Hmm... There is a Nana live action movie that I haven't seen.

Gokusen anime and Gokusen Live-Action Drama...

The anime had some of the fugliest character designs I've seen but the TV show turned up having both me AND my wife addicted to it's anime-ish approach and fx to things...

[glasses glare for instance when there's no light source... during angry scenes]

Anime turned real life? That'd be teh funneh...

Yeaaaah, I kinda feel the same way about it, but if the producers of any anime movie did a good job in choosing the actors for the certain parts, and stuck to the MAIN plot of the show instead of twisting it around like they tend to do, maybe it would be pretty good. Like, when I heard they were going to make (which they decided not too) the Cel Saga, DBZ, into a live action movie to put in threaters, they chose The Rock for Cel :| ...which personally isn't my first choice. Leonardo Decaprio was supposed to be Trunks and Jet Lee was going to be Vegeta. I just think with some animes, it just wouldn't work out. With a show like One Piece, though, I think they would end up doing a pretty good job. Raiders, pirates, a straw hat :), the plot isn't too complex and it would be cool to have the movie set on the vast sea, and there would be tons of action. I'm not too biga fan of the show itself, but I still think it could pass and end up doing pretty well. I could see Inuyasha being a pretty good live action movie as well, with some good sword fights and such in it. It would be 8-)

It would be interesting to see some of our favorite animes LIVE, to see what actors are chosen, to see if the producers stick with the plot, but I think I would just stick with the cartoon anime itself. Who knows though?
