I guess it depends on the anime and the actors. DBZ unless it be cg, live actions gonna always look funny . The odd LIVE would be cool ei: Cowboy Bebop/Full Metal Panic!/ Elfin Lied would be crazy!..
Anime to LIVE usually doesnt work because of poor emotions and general non big eyes and ability to fly*ish*.. lol, thats just me though

Technically, since the Nana live action movie came out before the Anime TV series, it's more accurately a manga adaptation (as are quite a few anime live action movies, technically since many anime are based on manga originally).madbunny wrote:I'd forgotten about the Initial D movie. That movie grated. Chick in the HK and chinese movies always get the short end of the stick. She WAS pretty cute though.
GTO was awesome. A totally different feel than the anime, or the manga.
Another, that I'd forgotten about is: Hana Yori Dango (boys over flowers?).
Which in spite of the odd premise worked out reasonably well.
Hmm... There is a Nana live action movie that I haven't seen.

Yeah, I would probably miss the big eyes  of the characters, and the flying around thing in an anime is WAY different when someone tries to make it look realistic on a live movie. Not that I'm saying they couldn't do it, I mean, the movie Superman when he was flying around was well done. I guess it would depend on the producer.
If I did go see an anime movie, I'd probably be just go and to see how it was done and point out all the mistakes of the lines and make myself look like an anime nerd who doesn't have a life.
But do you guys (the people who have seen live movies of an anime show), do you think it was worth watching, give me some pointers here, I've never seen a live action movie of an anime (sad to say).

Well almost. Sailor Moon had the live action musicals/stage plays, and PGSM (the live action tv series). No movie yet, but alot of people seem to want one and there's been rumors forever. :pmadbunny wrote:DragonBall Z, Sailor Moon, Cutey Honey, and a ton of fight games have all been made into live action movies.
And wasn't Cutie Honey live action before it was anime?

So, what you're saying is, (technically speaking) an anime show really has never been turned into an actual live action movie? Some just preformed on stages and in some cases, have been movies BEFORE they became an actual series? Or am I wrong about that? :?:

Initial D was made into a live action movie...
Fist of the North Star was made into a live action movie...
Street Fighter was made into a live action movie...
I'm sure there's alot more that I probably don't know about.

Wikipedia recently deleted an entry for live action anime movies that listed some examples.
Other live action movies (that weren't mentioned yet) that came out after the anime:
Lupin III: Strange Psycokenetic Strategy (Rupan Sansei: Nenriki Chin Sakusen)
Crying Freeman
Cromartie High School
City Hunter (Jackie Chan???, plus a Street Fighter scene )
Honey and Clover
Prince of Tennis
Live action TV series that came after the anime:
Detective Conan (Case Closed)
Ace wo Nerae! (Aim for the Ace!)
And instances where the live action movie (or TV) came first:
Death Note (anime is set to premiere in October)
Ichi the Killer (has an Episode 0 OAV)
Lady Oscar (French film based on The Rose of Versailles manga, aka. La Rose de Versailles, the anime came after)
Witchblade (now this one is convoluted: based on an american comic book, which spawned a live action TV series in the US, then was re-printed in a manga format, then adapted into an original manga in Japan, shortly before the anime began airing on Japanese TV)
Also in development:
Battle Angel (Gunnm) (movie)
Witch Hunter Robin (TV)

I think, if they picked a decent cast and a decent director willing to keep the original plot together, and didn't give it a horribly lackluster budget, that Cowboy Bebop could be made into a seriously kickass live action series, and still keep the same feel and power as the anime. Though I find it much more likely that all of the "if"s I started this with would prove to have negative outcomes and they would slaughter it to a degree of absolution.
