**End of Evangelion Spoiler Warning**
This scene takes place after Shinji makes the decision to live on as they were prior to the Third Impact, AT feilds and all, in spite of the fact that he knows this will allow people to continue to hurt him and he will remain unhappy.

Dragonball Z had the world (Earth) blowing up at the end ^_^
(not to mention many other worlds including Namek and many less dramatic worldy endings)

**End of Evangelion Spoiler Warning**
The very last scene in End of Evangelion begins with a shot of Shinji straddling Asuka and choking her as she lies, relatively unresponsive, on the beach. After a moment or so of being strangled, she slowly reaches up one hand and gently caresses Shinji's cheek. In response stops choking her. This scene takes place after Shinji makes the decision to live on as they were prior to the Third Impact, AT feilds and all, in spite of the fact that he knows this will allow people to continue to hurt him and he will remain unhappy. Because of this, I have found myself unable to interpret the meaning of that last scene. Whereas I had percieved, in some way, all of the subtleties and psychological facets the movie had to offer in two sittings, the meaning of that scene eludes me to this day. So I was wondering if anyone had any of their own interpretations that they'd be willing to share.
As a response to the unrelated note
from what i've collected, that last scene was just to show that there is still compassion between the two characters though they show very little and it's possibly a love/hate relationship

also, take into the account the reasons why EoE was created, though the series was ended, the masses demanded a better ending and it was basically taken as an insult to the creator Hideaki Anno and thus he returns the insult by confusing the masses with a cryptic final scene that difficult to understand if it's worth understanding at all
If you're reading this, you've gone too far...PREPARE FOR RETRIBUTION!!
Don't judge an AMV by it's anime.. u nooB ;D
