The Journals are part of the site, and therefore should be subject to site rules, such as "no abuse". This means limitations, restrictions, rules, etc. Like it or not.
Then instead of causing a rukus, have everyone come together with the MODS and create it.

Create the "Journal Usage Guide" that is. I would recommend that you do get the users from Junkies to casual users together and dish it out with you or another as a Moderator.

Do you seriously think we're ignoring this issue? No, we're watching this. We're well aware of what's going on here, and have our own thoughts on the matter which will be aired when the time is ripe, if at all.

The irony of your position is amusing, however. You insist that people should not be "causing a rukus". Yet, that is precisely what I find you to be doing right here and right now. Please, take your flames elsewhere.

No, I don't think that you are ignoring the situation. And another thing, the fact that I am DEFENDING the use of the journals is not irony at all. The rukus is that the journals are under attack by a small number of people wanting it to basically dissappear while the ones using it seem to hold very little power in the ORG.
And show me where my "flaming" has been cause for major concern, I bring up valid points that seem to be IGNORED by you (MODERATOR!) . See the first sentence of your quote.

Okay, I am going to sound off here because some people are being seriously retarded.

The original intent of the .org journals was, like any other journal worthy of the definition, to chronicle the experiences and observations of AMV editors while they are in the creation process. The people that recognize this and use it for this purpose are fine.

Then there are the people that have decided they want to talk about non-amv stuff. That too is fine, to a certain extent.

Because what we have now is a small but rabid group of people who have decided to form their own clique with the journals as their primary means of communication instead of other, more convenient and less obtrusive interfaces such as instant messengers or PMs or e-mails.

If you are one of these people, may I kindly ask that you take your conversations to another venue? As has been noted earlier in the thread, you are bumping off entries which are more in the spirit of both the site and the original intent of the journals. Also, you will probably notice that the amount of retaliatory trolling journal entries will dwindle since the trolls will have less/no targets at which to aim their attacks at. Until such time as a comment feature is added to the .org journals, there is simply no good reason to try to use them like a LiveJournal or other blog that actually has a comment feature.

well hate to say it but it seems such a shame, its probably one of the more friendly places on the org too :/ (unless you try talking with cornboy... yes direct insult... i cant stand the guy :/ meh)

then i vote we bring back the OT forums :P
seems a shame that there is no real place on the org for "free expression" though i understand the reasons :/

atleast youre nicer than cornboy and asked nicely :/

well.. I do want people to look at it... and yes, ofcourse, I hope you also vote worthy (A) ... But I don't see those things as a bother, do you?
I mean, I don't see many journals of people saying that. O_o

haha... not anymore, when someone (me) politely told the offenders (not naming names) that its a lil tacky... though they do post when they win a banner now...

i used to do that myself a long time before cornboy decided to be active on the anything... i dont anymore, cause once i noticed i had so many worthy banners it seemed to be counter-active from what i wanted... i got less votes cause i already had plenty of worthy banners why did i need more?

either way no stress... I'll talk to people... and we will see what will come of it..

though in some ways it seems that some people sometimes want to post more because it pisses off the cornboy... cause he has to angst over everything... (trolling on the trolls) truthfully i dont think that guy will ever be satisfied.... no matter what changes are made :/

If the journals were actually removed, it would probably be for the same reason OT was removed. That thread was huge, but OT stayed gone. I really don't think anyone who likes his journal should be comparing journals to the OT section. Best to distance the two and pretend the journals have a purpose on amv-org and that they aren't (even if they are, pretend they aren't) being used as the new OT forum.

I like my journal. I don't want to lose my journal. I don't want to lose my journal buddies list. So I'm going to stand behind the idea that the journals are not the new OT forum, and that they still have a purpose on the site as long as they're listed on the members' profile pages.

If not for the 'new journals list' on the main page, none of the journals would be comparable to a forum, OT or otherwise. Either/or that list and keep the journals as a collective seperate.
