Just something id like to mention, 29.97 will not convert nicely to 23.976 after something has already been edited, it only works before editing. it removes frames and so the editing will be affected, especially if there is a lot of timing. Thats why its best if everyone stays in the same framerate, and it all comes out in the same framerate.FoxJones wrote:angel234: I can give out my track, but Elfen Lied is already picked with track 15 so I'd prefer you use different anime. OR work very closely with Chrono so you won't end up using same scenes for example.
angelx03/Stolen Soul: that 23.976/24fps was just first suggestion. If people want to use 29.97fps it's also fine. I can also just convert the fps to fit the rest if needed. 29.97 should convert quite nicely to 23.976.
With widescreen sources just leave black bars. If that's called "letterboxing" then yes ^^''
ChronoWraith: Silly me. Here I go asking for contact info and didn't give out mine I try read private messages as often as I can. Email that I read daily is (foxjones ät kahvipannu dot com). I also try to hang out in org's irc-channel.. #amv at ZiRCnet.
No need to worry about credits transition. With the song ending like that just a simple quick fade out should work best. After that the credits will start with slow fade in.

Yea.. I think that would be the best option then.Stolen Soul wrote:then wouldnt it be best to have everyone used 29.97?
Now that we start using 29.97 what if I need to convert 23.976/24 to 29.97?
Absolutely completely not ok.. jesus. For one I count that as video game stuff.. second, if I have to watch another video made with FFAC I'm going to scream.angel234 wrote:ok then ill use FFAC if thats ok?

FJ: What is the final decision on the framerate/video size/compression/etc. all the technical stuff? I plan to begin working at some point this coming week, but I can't start working untill I know this. Thanks.

Try to refrain from using animes from "most used anime list".. be creative.
angel234 wrote:ok then ill use FFAC if thats ok?
I know the final say isn't mine but I'm not sure FF:AC is the best choice since FJ was trying to do this project without using any of the most used anime an FF:AC is # 7 as of right now. I'm actualy surprised Elfen Lied was accepted since I seem to see it pop up everywhere. I suggest finding a backup series (which still fits) and that isn't already being used and which isn't on the most used list (the list is on the right side of the members main page if you are unsure of where to check for it). Most Used Anime List wrote:10322 - Naruto - 8.07%

Holy crap I just noticed this fps stuff... I can't stress how important keeping the fps the same through-out the whole rendering process is. Please, everyone should use a basis for an fps. Converting only damages timeframes and sync, sometimes even makes motion choppy on amvs. I think everyone should just edit with a standard, my fav being 29.97... We have plenty of time to discuss it. I'm for 29.97 though, cause I edit at 29.97 and it's nice to see what I'm doing instead of getting a render that can be quite different in alot of ways thanks to a different fps from my editing.
My vote is for 29.97 :/ ... Makes things easier anyways.

If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

Recently i've just had a very awkward fps situation.
My Air-movie r2 is encoded at 23.976fps (which is unusual) - because its interlaced not progressive. So after de-interlacing the fps was 19.18... what kind of a framerate is 19.18!?! - but the awkwardness came when i forgot to convert it before i began editting... so now i have a half-finished 19.18fps amv in the making... lets avoid a situation like that.
/Motivational Speech Begins
i agree with Eva-Fan on the 29.97 - its the easiest to edit with and its generally easy to convert sources to that framerate. But just as a quality-control issue, if you don't know how to edit in/or convert into 29.97fps then you probably shouldn't be involved in a Multi-Editor project at all.
I also have another question, is everyone planning on using DVD footage?
if not, why, lol? - also, what's everyone trying to get out of this MEP? I'd really like to see this done well and i know i plan to use the best video quality i possibly can and also spend as much time on this, again, as i can. I really don't want to see any half-assed attempts making the rest of the project look bad.
In case anyone wondered i'm a very big fan of nightwish and i found the 1st project rather average. As a tribute to the "End Of An Era" we should really nail this also for FJ himself, because maybe he was a little disappointed last time round, lets impress him and create a multi-editor project we can all be proud of.
