Honestly, most people I know watch lots and lots of fansubs (in addition to buying things).

i wouldn't go so far as to say i really honestly miss the show, but i would like to watch it again, i borrowed the dvds from a friend and watched it all in like 3 days time, also, i DIDN'T fall asleep
... but than again, i can watch the movie A.I. and also not fall asleep, so maybe i'm just a freak :?
If you're reading this, you've gone too far...PREPARE FOR RETRIBUTION!!

Ya, I tend to watch the fansub and if I enjoy it buy it when it comes out in the US. I have found many great series through fansubs.

Outlaw Star was a pretty good anime. Havn't really thought about it much since I first watched it. Been so long I guess I wouldn't mind watching it again though.

If you're looking for another anime similar to it, there's a "sequel" called Angel Links. Never seen it, only heard about it from a friend, but it apparently takes place in the same universe.

Angel Links is a spin off more than a sequel. I heard it is good but a little T&A. (Get the Outlaw Star DVDs they edit that show to the hilt. Makes me sick.)

What exactly do you mean by similar to Outlaw Star? Characters? Space Ships? Etc?

I found S-cry-ed to be similar in the main character department.

The director of OS also worked on Sakura Wars and Pilot Candidate (might like that one).

Perhaps El Hazard (for the cast)??

What is wrong with FMA and Ghost in the Shell?
One is about life; the other is about exsistence and politics wrapped in a thick detective story.

I can aslo watch A.I. without falling asleep, but only because I have to look for a brick to hit my head. Has that kid ever been a movie that didn't stink. He is younger JLo or something.

Not to mention one episode of Outlaw star never aired in the US on TV either. I didn't really like the version shown on TV cause of the edits.

I still get a chuckle out of the one kid screaming when looking at his friends ordinary hand. (They had edited out the blood on it so it looked like a normal hand when they showed it).

Btw I've seen all the unedited episodes. I was just refering to missing it as in they never finished the story off, when they had the perfect chance to throw in a movie to finish the story line.

What's wrong with FMA? Same thing that is wrong with Inuyasha. They don't put the story to the grinding wheel and keep it refined and straight foward. They keep throwing in other characters as gimics. What's wrong with GITS? Well it's like CSI but in anime form, just way too boring and the episodes don't flow into each other. (Given it's a well made well founded show, it's just not my cup of tea.)

Scryed reminded me of DBZ a bit too much, but all in all I did like it, it just wasn't great.

Never heard of el hazzard.

The main thing that I liked about outlaw star was alot of things came together to make it a good solid show. Good character diversity, good story/universe, and enough "break" episodes to keep it from getting boring. It seemed like they never dwelled on any storyline plot except for the main one.

Trigun was another good anime that I saw as very similar to OLS in the way I compair things.

I'm hoping to eventually be able to check out angle links, but it seems to be pretty hard to find.

If you have access to the unedited eps why do you care if it is on TV?

I would hardly put FMA and Inuyasha in the same boat. Inuyasha was rather random with tons of break episodes. Inuyasha is meant for a younger audience and tends to be more light on the story.

FMA has a central story and concepts that run the entire length. The only real loose end was the general on the train never shows back up later. FMA was a manga before it was a show so this helps with storys.

Scryed parallels DBZ on the basis of a character that lives to fight, but the story is consistent to a plot of social value conflict. The fair for all democracy of similarity vs the freedom of chaos and strife. That is why I like it, plus a main character full of fire.

GiTS is a thinking persons anime. The action is in trying to keep up while taking headache medicine. Low on the action for sure so can't blame you on that.

Trigun kicks ass. Kain and Able story really.

El Hazard has that wacky bunch of characters that seem similar to OLS, but I don't know much beyond that.

I would not know about 'break' episodes. I prefer consice no BS filler type shows that keep a constant flow of action and info to the story. Probably why I like movies like Fight Club, Snatch, and Crank. If they don't speed along with action they throw info at you without stop. Liked OLS anyway; Gene was a cocky bastard and Melfina was nice.

They did finish OLS. It was 'they continue their adventures' kind of ending. They found the layline, beat the enemy, etc. What was left to do? Movie might of been nice, but most movie adaptations suck pretty bad on the story connections. Wonder what it could have been about?

Angel Links is easy as to find. Try your local Best Buy or Amazon. Best Buy usually has it.
