AMV Naming

I suck at names. A lot. Usually I cop out and use a reasonably relevant line from the song other than the song's title. Sometimes a joke/pun, sometimes a combination of song and anime, but most often it's a non-title line of the song.
Recently, I've started to ask myself "What title would make people think 'Oh, yeah, that one'?" This came about from sorting out my AMV collection and burning it to DVD - which is about filenames, but the general idea is the same.

@;'~,~~ was both a break away from textual titles (to go with the animasia theme of no lyrics) as well as a jab at self-pretentious titles like itself. other videos -- usually a lyric from the song that sums the theme of the vid.
working project title names i used were usually just the title of the song/audio.

Filenames are as simple as I can make them - like, my last video was "Butterfly."
However, for catalogue names... well, it wasn't until I actually started sharing my media online that I gave anything names. Seriously. Poems, fanfics, sketches, AMVs... none of my stuff had names - just the dates that I had completed them on (and for AMVs, the sources they contained).
Now, though, I try to take something relevant to the source or a lyric from the song. Examples:
"Evolution or Mutation?" - used the song "Change" by the Deftones. The main theme of the video was physical and mental changing. In Parasite Eve (one of the sources used), the question 'evolution or mutation?' is asked in regards to the monsters in the game. Seemed like a nice tie-in.
"The Chosen Two" - this one's easy. In Fatal Frame II (the source), the two main girls are referred to as "the chosen two." Since the video was about them, it was the obvious choice.
To be honest, I try not to think about titles too much. As long as I get something that rolls off my tongue well and has some vague relation to the anime (or mostly games in my case), I'm happy.

Of my videos, the only one that has a somewhat unique name is my first video "The World is Square", and I took that name from a puzzle in Final Fantasy VI. Either way, that title worked with the theme of the video since it used several Squaresoft games in it.
All of my other videos have been trailers, and I just went with a common trailer standard of creating the title from a combination of the audio and video source.
NERV Troopers
Neon Genesis Evangelion: Substance
Final Doom
As for later projects that I might get to if I ever have the motivation, most working titles for my ideas are taken from combining the anime and music sources (particularly for the trailers), but others are phrases that reflect the theme of the video (Usually from a line from the music or a phrase associated with the anime or music). Still, I have a few ideas that are left untitled, and I would probably end up asking for suggestions if I ever get the video finished.

Final Doom "Amazing things will happen here soon."

I used to just use the song title/anime combo. Then I used to take time and think up a title. Now I go with the idea that it doesn't really matter so I name it the first thing that comes to mind.
I've considered going with what I name the project files though. However I'm not sure I want my profile to be full of videos titled "premiere sucks.ppj", "fuck premiere.ppj", "god damned crack baby bastard programers at adobe need to fucking die a slow horrible death.ppj", "this is the stupid shit I come up with when i am sleep deprived.ppj", or "why the hell was I stupid enough to start a fucking MEP.ppj" Sadly I'm only slightly exagerating. A couple of these names actually have been used for project files.

Most are pretty straightforward, some variation on song title or lyrics. Exceptions to that are...
RPBP (formerly Recycled Penis Boobies ProjeKct) -
(various titles to bizzare music)
Forum reference to community-based ridicule of Project Genius banners (it better be out someday!) that took place in late 2003.
Both the title and the videos (now 4 of them) are a stab at pretension in AMVing.
A Video About Mecha That Do Things Which Are Not Normal (Wait, Eva Aren't Mecha!) -
(Evangelion to Frank Zappa - Baby Snakes)
a Frank Zappa reference to the title of the DVD release "Baby Snakes (A Movie About People Who Do Things That Are Not Normal)"
The Wasteland
(Evangelion to ProjeKct 3 - Deception of the Thrush)
reference to the source of some of the electronically-voiced lyrics in the early part of the song (T.S. Eliot's poem "The Wasteland"). I also thought it would be a nice touch to refer the video specifically to the poem, which I like.
The Plot Thickens
(Various to Frank Zappa - Naval Aviation in Art)
a random line invented by jasper-isis
IMPORTANT - this one is actually the case where the title came before the video. Jasper invented a random title, and I made a video based on that. Sort of like Telephone, but a completely stand-alone release.
milkfight.avi
(GITS 2: Innocence to TU - Misery DieDieDie)
a glorious case of "let's make up a random shit title". Well, maybe the fact that theaction took place at a convenience store helped...

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
