A large mix of the song lyrics, song title, anime, genre of video...yeah, that....and the nightmares in my mind 0.o

Seriously, it's terrifying in there. You don't want to know how I come up with my AMV titles....although...I must say my best...is....

For And So It Begins... (Swept Away), I initially just had the song title as the AMV title (and the version submitted to Kawaii Kon was named that way). Very shortly thereafter, I realized I had the perfect AMV title in the lyrics of the song. So the title officially changed for the final version (which is what you see now on the .org entry). I left the original title in parenthesis since the main theme of the AMV is being swept away by love and well, it's the song title. The main reason for the change? It's kind of a "wink wink, my first AMV" thing. Yeah, I'm too clever for my own good. Which leads me to...

I used to use a non-title lyric for my first few videos, but eventually, I found that too restrictive and dropped it. Now, I try to look at the completed video (most of mine don't have titles until they're finished) and come up with a short, slightly abstract way of summing up the theme.

ditto. of my last 4 vids, i've named 2, and Jay named 2.

I just name them. There's no real thought process behind it. Just something that fits the theme.

To me, a title is what legitimates the work. It draws the line between "a video clip made with anime footage" and "an AMV", as in an artistic concept. Sometimes, the title just comes up, sometimes I think and think and come up with fifteen different "project titles" just to conclude that they all suck. :?

If the best fitting title happens to be the name of the song, I don't mind either. My "Endless Sacrifice" is titled after the song, and I think it's the most fitting title of all my videos (except maybe "Vash the Stampede Went to Malta", but I prefer not to talk about that one). Usually, the end result is just a combination of the song's main theme with the intended theme for the AMV, sometimes the project actually comes to life from a name that popped in all of a sudden and sometimes I use non-title lyrics.
And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.

I usually try not to take the actual song title without modifying it in any way.
-The only one I did this with officially was Tomorrow but I changed it to Tomorrow's Not Today to reflect the point of the video.

Sometimes I use symbolism that represents a character whether it was like that in the anime or for my video.
-Tohru was represented by a riceball in the anime so the video was Riceball Love
- Lost Lamb represents Robin in With Hunter Robin going to the dark side in my video. This is associated with being a lost sheep or a black sheep so I adopted that name.

Next I try a title that summarizes my concept
-Soldier's Hell to show the hell Sailor Moon went through in the 1st movie
- Food and Drink to show how that whole video "began" to lead up to the events in the video

If I am truly lazy I'll just splice the sources I took the music and or anime from
-Mega Panic which was Megaman's US theme song and Full Metal Panic anime

Hmm... let's see project file names... bugarama.pds, testmonkey.blend, vag.veg... that last one is my favourite
Most of the other times, they sound like a promise (like, almostdone.pds or iswearitsthelasttime.pds)...

But anyway, on to video names...

It used to be just about the song, I guess... sort of just chaning a word at most to suit the video. But these days I opt for the shortest/simplest name I can come up with. Too long and it'll take me too much time to tell people which video I'm talking about and telling people, "my Voices of a Distant Star video" is just as bad as long names...

So yeah, short and to the point, that's all I ever do... filenaming? meh, it varies but it usually at least contains the catalogue title and maybe anime name or mine.

I usually try to come up with a title early on, and focus on that title as something to work towards, something that'll help shape the outcome.

That's about it. |:
