The other topic made me think how could things get better. Hope u don't lock this to soon.
Why do ppl abuse the system - cause of the score. Then remove it.
Let there be only the actual opinion box where everyone could actually "write opinion" not just give tens. Top 10% goes out of the windows.
I though if there could be a chart for best videos it can be based on how long and detailed the opinions are (like the usefullness of users) but then ppl will start making spam opinions.
The problem is whatever involves voting it can always be cheaten. Whatever one thinks of other will think of how to get over.
Other options is to enable new users to give opinions if they've been at least 2 months on the org.
Or there could be made a tempory chart. Like videos of the month or smth. Videos who's already been there won't show again. I mean everybody has watched the first potisions of a-m-v.org and they just stand there on top while there are rly good videos which arent even in the list.
Another option is to disable users to op they're own amvs.
So if there is at least a little interest in this topic i would be happy anyone made notice of it.

As to how the opinions system can be made better?
I dunno I suppose it could be made better but as you've said people could always find ways around it if they tried hard engough. Personally I think it works reasonably well now (provided people aren't being stupid).

It's true that videos that are already well established in the top lists are more likely to stay there since they get more downloads and more ops as a result of being there.

Prehaps if you could sort it for results of ops only done that year or something it would reflect more of the newer videos. Similar to the star system. Actually I'm not sure we'd need it if its already there in the star system.

I don't really like the idea of removing the scoring altogether. It's a way of getting a basic comparison of your video vs what that person has already seen. Although I am leaning toward the idea of removing them if it causes much more grief.

Either way it's never going to be a perfect system and I wish people would stop getting so worked up about it being "unfair" or some such thing.

You know what would solve that? Kill off all humans and have the whole world run by well built robots. Then everything would work exactly the way they're supposed to since machines only do what they're programmed to do. And if they're all programmed to make the perfect op system and use it properly, then that's what will happen. The op system will always be flawed no matter what because it was made by humans and used by humans. Because it was created by humans, it is doomed to be flawed anyway, and is made because it is human nature to compare everything, perferrably by numerical means and use said numerical comparison to compete against other humans. And because humans are using it and it is also human nature to try and prove superiority over others, whether it be over the other creators through their inflated scores or over the people who made the system by blatantly showing that they can beat their system, then the same problems will arise no matter what is changed. For every new system that is made, there is someone out there who can crack or abuse it. So really, it all comes down to what system will see less abuse and what the masses prefer. And now I need a nap.

now seriously i don't think it'll be perfect ever
even robots and computers have bugs and make mistakes too
the idea is to make it better~
maybe some1 could give more realistic suggestions

yeah actualy you give good idea Usagi, but i dont think it will happen, op system will be like now maybe not forever, but ... there is no perfect system for this and really there is many good amv's that isnt in top10% because didnt have enough opinions or have bad opinions from user that didnt know how to give op. I must say op system and star system isnt perfect, but it is not that shit that someone say. If you want to show your amv to many peoples you can always pimp your amv and do more and more op ex, even if you arent in top10% many peoples will watch your amv's and can vote for you in VCA or you can still win amv contest. I dont think many of amv creators make their amv's just to be in top10% or to win contests, they do it for fun, for show what feelings give them some anime, to make peoples laugh or cry or wareva, amv's isnt something comersial.

X2... instead of worrying about how screwed up the system is, why not just try to have fun with the hobby XD... i mean i enter my vids into contests so people can see them, not to try to win prizes...

its a hobby its supposed to be fun... XD

khe he he - fame, fortune, fun and country - you can do magic or jump from buildings and fly then, you will become famous in no time. If you make amv's just to be in top10% you lose all fun of making and that is sad. I'll be waiting in impatience the day you become N#4.
