just wondering... to those amv editors with little resources

Post by pataki0021 » Thu Oct 12, 2006 9:13 pm

to those with dial-up or little to no anime dvds or fansubs or raws... if you see fitting footage from a amv you're making from someone else's amv, do you use that said footage? and is that kinda frowned upon from some people?

This is awful familiar to another thread out there. But don't. First, it is "stealing" especially if you take specifie edits. Second, the quality will be low since you are working with a drastically compressed source that is probibly lossy. Third, you don't need to have a high speed internet connection to get your own clips. If you have a DVD player in your PC you can rip dvds all you want.

You could ask someone if you can use a clip from a amv they made and they might let you use it.
But like Krisqo said, the quality wont be that good. Its best to use dvds

the thing is, if there is a smidgen a footage (like 1 -5 seconds of footage of a anime i could rarely get or jsut dont have the time to) i found on a amv, i have this smidgen of temptation to use the footage, but i'll take moonies suggestion and ask them if i could use the footage.

that probably won't turn out well.
not only will it look bad after a second encoding, but i'd imagine most editors would say "no. go DIAF."
