Help with high definition capture

Post by wiserd » Sun Oct 15, 2006 5:06 pm

Hi, I'm trying to capture high definition video to my computer from a Sony HDR HC3 camera. I'm using Vegas Video 6 (which is supposed to support HD editing, at least. It SHOULD support capture too. Right?) No soap.
If I record in normal def, I can capture fine. The problem is, there's some high def footage that I took that I'd like to be abel to use.

Any advice on what to do, use or read?

Thanks!

Ryan

From Sony's Tech Support Knowledgebase:
Capturing HDV in Vegas 6.0.
Question

How do I capture HDV in Vegas 6.0 and Vegas Movie Studio+DVD Platinum Edition? When I try to capture I get an error message.

Answer

To capture HDV in Vegas 6.0 and Vegas Movie Studio+DVD Platinum Edition, you need to use the new internal capture utility as opposed to the external Video Capture program. When you go to File-->Capture Video, it will ask you which of the two capture utilities you would like to use. Note that if you are using the original release of Vegas 6.0, go to Options-->Preferences-->Video, uncheck the box that says "Use external video capture application", and click Ok.
