Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

With You (Ergo Proxy)

With You - Jengu

My new AMV about the relationship between Re-l Mayor and Vincent Law.

I fiddled with other music/anime before but never completed a real AMV, so this was my first real attempt at finishing something. I tried to get the scenes to match the lyrics the best I could so the viewer would get a good feel. I also tried to build each scene from least dramatic to most dramatic so it would keep the viewer watching and not turn away.

I hope everyone enjoys the video, all tips and opinions are welcome!

Ergo Proxy? Well, you've caught my attention, for better or worse.

First off, the technical stuff. Audio quality is passable, but it sounds like it was downloaded. The video quality... no. Not acceptable. Ergo Proxy looks a ton better than that. It looks like you ran the whole thing through a desaturation filter or something, because all the colors look washed out. On top of that, I saw interlacing now and again. Somewhat distracting, really.

Second, at least your timing was decent, if not always consistant. The pacing is off. Sometimes it's quite fast, and other times its very slow, with no apparent rhyme or reason.

Third, actual content. For reference, I've seen Ergo Proxy, so I know what you're working from. For a video that's supposed to focus on Vince and Real, you dragged in a lot of extraneous stuff. What business does Pino have in there? Very little, I think. Your focus was lacking as a result. You never clearly established what was going on, opting for some confusing action instead. The result is a video that verges on incoherent.

1.5/5, for actually attempting and having a basic grasp of timing.

Well I asked for help on forums and tried to make it the best i could, if I did 1 thing it would screw something else up. So I decided to, instead of making one full of crap and good quality, to one that actually is complete.

Thanks, I will try and keep it more consistant next time.

If you don't understand the reason Pino being there when those lyrics come on, you need to watch the Anime again.
