A song that conveys fear

Post by Shish KK Kabob » Sat Oct 28, 2006 8:44 pm

I want to make an AMV conveying deep fear, sorrow, and other things negative. I need a song that fits some or all of the following criteria, and any suggestions would be greatly <3'd. As you can see, this is a huge bitch list, because the first thing I do is pick a song, and I really want to find a good one.

- The music HAS to be unique to a-m-v.org (by this I mean no other amv made with the song)
- It would be nice if the band itself was too
- If there are lyrics, I would prefer them to be the not so understandable type, for whatever reason (different langauge, voice effects) except for death metal growls. Too violent. I have a theory that lyrics can a) not be comprehended, and considered another instrument in the music, or b) be fully understood, distracting, and thus turning the music into a song. I like choice a
- Not too violent of a song, but still heavy points

A few examples of the kind of music I like. Path vol. 2 by Apocalyptica is my kinda song for an AMV, but it's been used. Aura from the .hack//ost evokes a negative mood to me. I <3 Motoi Sakuraba.

So, if anybody wants to just... throw a few titles out there, once again, I thank you greatly. The main point of this song is to flow with a mood that really summons the negative.

Art of Noise has some very scary tracks in his catalogue. Try him for starters.

Godspeed You! Black Emporer

They're an excellent instrumental band with a lot of really anxious sounding tracks. However, most of their best songs are upwards of 20 minutes, and therefore not too friendly to someone listening to them for the first time. Also, I guess you'd have to edit it down if you're looking to make it fit into a 5 minute AMV - it's doable, but it'll take some work.

Try the song East Hastings from their album F#A#oo. It was used in 28 Days Later (though, is not on the soundtrack) and has a really nice feel to it, coupled with a sense of forboding.

I highly suggest "Fearful Dream" by Taku Iwasaki from the Now and Then, Here and There soundtrack.

Byzatine - "Jeremiad" would be perfect for this request...

If you like being flushed down a jet-powered toilet of negative emotions, might I suggest track 18: "Enemy of the State" from the Roadrunner United album.
