Upcoming series, Les Misérables: Shoujo Cossette

Post by angelx03 » Mon Nov 06, 2006 5:49 pm

Everyone should be familiar with Victor Hugo's famous novel. If not, well go here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Mis%C3%A9rables

The official website is found here:

http://www.nippon-animation.co.jp/lesmise/

Nippon Animation has been adapting literary classics in the past so it's a no brainer they'll be taking care of the animation. Hiroaki Sakurai (DiGi Charat, Cromartie High School) will be directing this. There's also a teaser trailer found in the website. All you have to do is click the 7th link from the left on the top of the main site's pop-up window. It'll premiere in Jan. 7, 2007.

Man, does anyone find Cossette REALLY cutesy looking? Man, those h-doujin artists better stay away from this!

They won't... and I think I need to kill somebody.
This had better get something like the Gankutsuou treatment, or I'm gonna go over to Japan and crack some skulls (already had to after the made-for-tv-movie that premiered here a few years ago)

It'll only be cool if they sing like the musical adaptation by Cameron Macintosh.

Yay... looks like this will be one of the few versions that actually include Eponine in the story.

"Do you hear the people sing?"

is this a series or a movie, I can't read Japaneses text to well. if I recall the book wasn't big enough to make 24 episodes out of and from what I could see in the site it didn't look like they were going to drastically change the story to suit their needs. they better not have or I am going with EmilLang.

I heard it's going to be a TV series that'll last 52 episodes.

Are you sure you didn't get an abridged version, sprueill?

I'm pretty sure the story was so long that it was originally split into 3 volumes.

According to Wiki, the original has 1463 pgs.

He only produces stuff. Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schoenberg (not to be confused with the other famous composer Schoenberg) were the ones who actually did the lyrics and music (respectively, I think?).

I thought those two only did the original French Les Miserables musical... well obviously the music is the same, I knew Cameron Macintosh didn't do that part.

Hehe, just looked it up... Herbert Kretzmer did the English lyrics for the musical. Alain Boublil only did the lyrics for the original production that was in French.

Hehe, when I said "It'll only be cool if they sing like the musical adaptation by Cameron Macintosh", I meant the musical adaptation from the original French musical, not adaptation from the book.
