AMVapp Issues

Post by vtsfy » Thu Nov 16, 2006 2:20 pm

I downloaded the AMVapp version 2.1 from here, and when I tried to open it I recieved this error:

The installer you are trying to use is corrupted or incomplete.
This could be a result of a damaged disk, a failed download or a virus.

You may want to contact the author of this installer to obtain a new copy.

It may be possible to skip this check using the NCRC command line switch
(NOT RECOMMENDED).

I know the error is not because of the listed reasons, so how do I "contact the author"? Or what else could I try?

Are you sure it downloaded completely? Tried different browsers, download managers? It works fine for me.

Devilmaykickass-- I'm using Internet Explorer, on Windows XP

Orwell-- Yes, I'm sure it downloaded completely each time I tried it. And what do you mean, different download managers? Is there a different place I can doenload it from besides a-m-v.org?

I'm really at a loss. Is there another program that does the same tasks? Maybe I could use that one.

Have you tried Opera, Netscape, or Mozilla instead of Internet Explorer?

And by "download managers", Orwell meant not only the download software native to the Internet Explorer browser (as well as other browsers) but also standalone download managers, like DownloadAccelerator, GetRight, PuxaRápido and FlashGet, among others.

Scintilla-- Would FireFox be a good browser to try? It's recommended for another website I frequent, anyway, so I guess I could try that one.

Gepetto-- Which Download Manager would you recommend?

While I've been waiting for replies, I looked over the instructions for Ripping the DVDs, and I admit I'm pretty lost. The technical jargon throws me off. I wouldn't want to call myself computer illiterate, but let's say I'm going to need a lot of help after this hurdle is jumped. (I know I'm being a bother... I should probably just try and puzzle it out on my own, but help is appreciated.)[/b]

I would reccomend the Firefox browser. I love that it's so versatile and customizable, not to mention free and open-source.

For download managers, my favorite is GetRight (which is shareware) but DownloadAccelerator Pro is also very good.

I have History class now but I'll post the links when I come back.

Mozilla Firefox
GetRight
Download Accelerator Plus

I don't know how useful this post was since you can find all of it through Google. Maybe Ill turn my signature space into a link depot.

GetWise and Download Generator

Post by vtsfy » Wed Dec 06, 2006 3:50 pm

Okay, I have Firefox now. When I tried to download GetRight, I received this error:

The file 'C:\Program
Files\GetRight\UNWISE.EXE' could not be
opened. please check that your disk is not full
and that you have access to the destination
directory. The system cannot find the path
specified.

So I tried saving it in a different location and received this error:

You do not have access to make the required
system configuration modifications. Please
rerun this installation from an administrators
account.

The second error was probably due to the fact that I'm on a school computer, though. I just wanted to try these programs out before downloading them to my computer, anyway. I'm not sure what error I got with Download Generator, but I'll post it as soon as I remember.
