Very enjoyable contest. I went to both showings and part of the overflow. A lot of good stuff. Illia's came out nicely (I had seen in beta), also Brad's (The World Moved On) and 'A City Divided'. I really want to know what that documentary footage is that was used. And Bob's Hello Kitty was a great closer.

The Saturday screening in the VAT I thought had a great audience. They really paid attention to all the videos and were very enthusiastic.

I'll hold off on announcing winners as well. I will mention that Vic added an extra award for the best of the overflow videos, which I thought was a good idea as there were quite a few that felt like they were contest grade but just didn't happen to make the cut.

The amv contest was great this year too bad nobody I voted for won first place. Congrats to the winners though!

Now you're all just being cruel. :P

Illia Sadri: I'm still waiting on that pic. :P

Walter: The sources in A City Divided are from “Vietnam: A Television War” and “China: A Century of Revolution” ... I forgot to add those to the list of footage for the con. As for the individual scenes, I can give you the historical context for each of the images in a PM if you want.

Oddly enough, none of the ones I voted for (audience was allowed to mark three favorites) won first place either...

Tired, hungry, and hungover. Sorry if this is brief. I've got a van full of A/V gear to unload before tomorrow.

Categorical awards were determined by the judges, who ranked each category's videos from worst to best, and those rankings were averaged with the two lowest scoring vids as the winners. Audience choice was determined by the audience voting for their 3 favorites (not weighted) and all votes were tallied (over 200 returned ballots. Not bad for us not handing out pencils!). The top 3 highest scoring videos were awarded audience choice awards. Best of show was determined by the judges unanimously voting for the video that they were most likely to be watching 5 years from now.

I'm typing this list from memory. If there is a misprint, I will correct it tomorrow when I get my main computer going again.

Drama:
2nd - Heroes of Bleach (Michael Zubrzycki)
1st - Undiscovered Countries (Graven Image)

Romance:
2nd - Journey of Hearts (Allegretto Productions)
1st - Fear to Love (A Heart's Yearning) (Scoob)

Action:
2nd - Night Thief (dragonsong 12)
1st - Red September (Premonition Studios)

Upbeat:
2nd - Dance 2.0 (NGSilver & Friends Productions)
1st - It's Time to Party (Immortal Productions)

Comedy:
2nd - Not Another Azumanga Daioh Parody: Death Song Thingy for Sakaki et al. (rogueintellectproductions) <--- Also won the "Best video that ever ripped me off" award.
1st - Thirst for Metal (Tsunami Jones)

Trailer:
2nd - Firewall (Nightowl Pictures)
1st - Alchemic Sin (ForeverZeroo the Element)

Best of Show:
From the Ashes (Dark Moon Studios)

Best Video that Didn't Make the Contest:
Boulevard of Broken Dreams (Immortal Productions)

Audience Choice:
I forgot the order for second and third place, so for now I'll just post that Dance 2.0 won first place by a monsterous landslide.

Grats to ya'll. Hope you had fun. See ya in '07!
