CCCP vs Roxio

Post by Krisqo » Sun Nov 19, 2006 8:41 pm

I have no idea where this should go these days so if this is in the wrong forum, would a Mod please relocate it to the proper one. Arigato.

-------

This is a strange problem I've been running into. A lot of people have talked about installing the CCCP pack for various reasons. SO I did, but there is one little problem.

I like to back up my favorite AMVs onto DVDs so I can watch them when I'm away from my computer, to show friends who don't want to install weird apps onto their pcs, and to be able to free up HD space. Right now the only dvd authoring application I have is Roxio 7 which always worked fine in the past. However, when I have the CCCP installed, I can only add select AMVs to my project, namely .WMVs. So I'm forced to uninstall the pack whenever I go to make a DVD and then reinstall it afterwards which is a real bother.. So my questions are:

1) Does anyone know what is causing this problem and how should I fix it.

2) Do I really need the CCCP even though I saw some people a little while ago suggesting that I do. (Mostly back during the summer for an apporox date.)

Roxio is probably relying on system playback capabilities that CCCP disables. Anyway, does Roxio allow you to burn files as data, instead of as video? If at all possible, go for that. Failing that, try compressing the video files into a zip or a rar or similar, and then see what happens.

The only other thing I can make using DVDs are a simple Data dvd where it just stores the file like you would a CD-R. Roxio sucks, but it's all I have unless I feel like shelling out a couple hundred for an DVD authoring program like Encore, but then I cannot be sure I won't have the same problems.

Nero can handle it.

I completly forgot about that program. ^-^;; I've only known Roxio since that is all my dad ever bought. I'll check it out. Thanks.

Nero also has Nero Vision, which will let you make DVD-Video disks, from most containers.
