WMM Sucks....;_;

Post by KuramasKitten » Mon Dec 18, 2006 12:17 am

Hey, just a newbie AMV maker. ^_^

I actually have been having trouble getting my video to play while watching the timeline in WMM. The music will play just fine, and the clip will play when I watch it separately from the music. They just won't play together. I've tried re-ripping and re-encoding multiple times, and nothing works. Which is wrong when my friend's computer has the same programs as me, and hers works perfectly. I also have tried uninstalling CCCP and restarting. Nada. Any help? Please? :oops:

A.)Will not play together at all?
or
B.) does it stutter/stop/start/lag while playing?

If it's A, I haven't had that problem

If it's B, then RAM and virtual memory make a huge difference (not to mention a kick ass CPU) and not running other programs in the background could help.

WMM isn't exactly the best if you want to be frame-accurate (difficult synching is difficult). The problems compound if you're using MP3 audio sources, lossily compressed video, etc.

@Autraya: It is one, because the entire preview screen is black. I can hear the music, but the video doesn't play with it.
@BOTA: Would it be better if I used wma files instead of mp3 for the music?

your footage might be encoded with divx or xvid...click the gspot banner in my sig, download it and run it. drag and drop your footage into the program and post what it says for codec and name.

for the other question: no, wma isn't any better. wav is what you want to edit with (or another losslessly compressed/uncompressed audio format)

Well I'm not using AVI of any sort, I'm encoding the vob files into mpeg 1.

is ffdshow (part of CCCP, check either the vfw settings or just the decoder settings) set to decode mpeg-1 footage?
if so, try disabling the option that has ffdshow decoding mpeg 1 files

That's the thing. I thought it might have been caused by the CCCP, so I uninstalled it, so it shouldn't be running at all right now.
