An Entry-level Gundam AMV

Post by GenocideX6 » Wed Dec 27, 2006 10:24 pm

Well, I think I'm allowed to post this here. >_>

I just finished making my very first AMV, which I call Gundam - The Last Impression. It's also the first time I dabbled in video editing and I really regret having used Windows Movie Maker - which died on me quite a lot. Anyway, I'm a huge Gundam fan and I thought I'd try something different than all the other Gundam AMVs out there. Namely, I've noticed most Gundam AMVs are either too largely focused on newer shows like Wing and SEED or seem a bit too episodic. Still, to give credit where it's due, I drew a lot of inspiration from existing AMVs, especially NeoSaturn's The Gundam Experience. I really tried to give each series/timeline a fair portion of "screen time", though given the time constraint set by the song I wasn't completely successful in my endeavor.

Speaking of which, I chose Last Impression for two reasons: it was the only song that I felt was long enough without being too monotonous, and it's from Endless Waltz, which introduced me to the Gundam franchise. I'm fairly happy with the way it turned out, though I'm a bit dissapointed I wasn't able to include more scenes from certain underrated shows. CG productions were also left out. Anyway, if there's one fault I would like to point out myself it would be that some of the transition effects are a bit repetative and certain widescreen scenes tend to stick out a bit. Regardless, I hope people can still enjoy it. Although the process of making this video really killed my motivation for making any future videos, I'd really appreciate some advice and opinions. Thanks!
