what each program does...i need help!

Post by by_the_flame13 » Thu Dec 28, 2006 8:45 pm

Kai. I believe i have all the programs i need in order to rip my dvd. Right now, i am ripping the vobs onto my cmpu.

But my problem is, and has beenf or a long time, that no matter how many guides i read, and no matter how many times i read them, I don't understand what each program does, how to use it, and in which order i need to do things.

none of it makes sence, but i am trying really hard to understand. I have this really awesome video i want to make, but i am really unsure of what i am supposed to do. Please dont tell me to the read guides again.

I've tried, and i still dont get it. I need someone to help me understand what the programs do, and what order and such.

Please help!!![/b]

This is a forum, not a chat room. Please don't bump your topics after only 13 minutes.

Here's the quick list:

<b>DVD ripper of your choice</b>: rips VOBs from DVD to hard drive

<b>DVD2AVI/DGIndex</b>: creates D2V files, which are indexes of VOBs

<b>AVISynth</b>: serves the D2V files so other programs can use the video; also can apply preprocessing filters (usually IVTC/deinterlacing)

<b>VirtualDub/Mod</b>: used to preview changes to AVISynth scripts; also, if you're saving clips, used to save the clips (with MJPEG if you're doing the swap method, or otherwise with lossless codec of your choice (read: HuffYUV or Lagarith))

Got it memorized?

When in doubt, Read <a href=http://www.a-m-v.org/guides/avtech31/>ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides</a>. It's pretty easy to understand, and goes through the process step-by-step. With pictures.

You can get DGIndex, AVISynth, and VirtualDubMod all as part of the AMVapp package:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... mvapp.html

You know, I really hope that the next update of the AMVapp includes a list right there on the download page of just what-all is IN it. :?
